To My Son at Eighteen I was your age once so they tell me you know...with attitude and dreams...and hair and now here you are able to buy cigarettes get drafted into military service and rent X-rated movies so...like...what happened Man?????? where's that kid on my shoulders asking a million questions about clouds and frogs and snapping turtles? When did you get so smart that my great "Wisdom of the Universe" turned into "Humorous Ideas from Dad"? I must have been sleeping So how does it feel to be legally an adult? Can you feel the pressure of social demands? Have you contemplated the increasing weight of the world? Do you think about your role in the big picture? Well...before it all gets too overwhelming let good old Dad give you some advice -remember to play everyday -let people know the real you (they'll be impressed) -share your ideas with the world (Lord knows they need a few) -keep your promises, your true friends and your health -seek the people, activities and things that excite you -forgive yourself and others when they really screw up! -be kind to animals, deserving people, and aging parents and enjoy your eighteenth year my wise and wonderful son I know I will ('cuz I've enjoyed them all!!!)
