| I went up and did Jenny Creek Road north of Blackhawk yesterday with the trailseekers group. The leader of the group has this monster Isuzu Amigo. He has a straight axle conversion up front and 37" tires all around. The other modified vehicles in the group were another Amigo with 35's and a Rodeo with 33's. They are a great group, altogether there were two amigos, one rodeo, one trooper, two 4-runners, one tracker, and one kia. We picked up another trooper at the last obstacle. We all had a great time. The trail is rated a 7 out of 10 on the COHVC scale(also flagged VDL-vehicle damage likely). This is quite a trail, there are two sections where the trail is actually the creek for a couple hundred yards. I got a dent in the driver's side door from a protruding log on the second creek section. The final obstacle is the tough one. There used to be an old wooden bridge crossing the creek near the end and it has been partially washed out. This requires you to drop down into the creek after making this impossibly tight turn and then you have to get yourself up onto the remaining section of the bridge. It was quite an adventure, that obstacle let me know that for sure I will never make it through the tougher trails until I get those lower gears. The Kia did it without any strapping, but I had to rev it way up and play with the clutch. I will give you automatic guys a plug and say that it would have been a hell of a lot easier without the stick. As soon as they post the pics I will post the link. The batteries in our camera died, so I have to depend on the group pictures and hope they got some of the Kia. |
