1991 CJRL CHAMPIONS!

DNTs photoThe DNTs, owned by cousins Larry Johnson and Debbie Steckenbein, made it two in a row by winning CJRL title again in 1991. It was another close one, going to the tie-breaker. The DNTs were declared CJRL champions over the Super Kings by the slimmest of margins.

The DNTs kept most of the same lineup that won them the first CJRL title the year before, including Will Clark, Andres Galarraga, Howard Johnson, Kevin Mitchell, and Ryne Sandberg. Their core of closers were intact, however they were less than impressive, with Randy Myers losing the closing duties to Rob Dibble and Dave Smith landing on the disabled list for much of the season.

As was the case in 1990, the Super Kings were the center of contoversy for the DNTs. The Super Kings lost by virtue of the newly instituted second tier tie-breaker. The complaint was lodged with the CJRL rules comittee, but thrown out of court for lack of merit. It is interesting to note that although the Super Kings would still have lost on the tie-break rule from the previous year, if the new rule was in place during 1990 the Foulks' Follies would have been CJRL champions for that year!

The DNTs totally dominated on offense, placing first in all four offensive categories. Pitching was less than impressive, save for a second place finish in ERA. The following is the DNTs ending roster for the 1991 season:
