Wargaming: Beta Testing and Beyond Wargaming: Beta Testing and Beyond
This just in: Back on Break from Testing.

This section will explain a little about my wargaming experiences. I have been involved in Beta Testing since 1999. My first game that I worked on was TalonSoft's Rising Sun. It was set in the Pacific and covered the major conflicts on a small scale. Shortly after the game was released, TalonSoft had a bit of a shakeup. Five key members from the company left for Breakaway Games. The Campaign Series, which Rising Sun was part of, seemed to be at a standstill.
The developer John Tiller moved on as did a good deal of the test team. I followed Glenn Saunders and others to John's new series, Panzer Campaigns which is produced by HPS Sims. The first game in the series, Smolensk '41 was pretty much done so I started in with the free battle pack add on that Glenn and Dave 'Blackie' Blackburn were working on for Smolensk '41. After that we dove into Normandy '44. This title was already underway while we were waiting for the third game in the series to startup. We helped out and once that was complete we started on the game I first joined Glenn to work on, Kharkov '42. Glenn and Blackie did the scenario design and took our input as we tested and retested the game. To this date this title is my favorite of the series. The fourth game in the series is Tobruk '41. Around the time this was released John had a flood of titles emerge. Napoleonic Battles: Campaign Eckmuhl, The War of 1812, and later the Squad Battles series was born in July of 2001 with the first title Vietnam. Needless to say we have been very busy. With more than one title being worked on at any given time and taking into consideration more than one series being currently worked on, we have a ton of work ahead of us.
As of 12MAy02 Squad Battles #4 is in Beta and in the PzC; Bulge '44 and Korsun '44 have been released as the fifth and sixth games in the series. No word on PzC #7 yet.As time passes I will add to this section and try to make it more presentable. Most of the information desired for the games can be acquired from either Glenn's site or HPS. Links are below. Right now I am busy with at least a couple of projects and that dreaded real life that can seem to bog a guy down from time to time.
I did manage to do a brief article on adding Support in Squad Battles: Vietnam. It is posted on Glenn Saunder's site. There is a link to it from the Squad Battles page (in the Games section).
