My home town is Jackson, Michigan.
It is a city of about 30,000 people, situated to the south of Lansing and to the west of Ann Arbor.
It was founded in 1829, and was named in honor of President Andrew Jackson.
Jackson is the birthplace of the Republican Party, who held its first official meeting as the Republican Party there on July 6, 1854.
Jackson is home to several of the Michigan Department of Corrections' correctional facilities, earning it its reputation as a prison town.
