It's finally official, Rose McGowan has joined the cast of Charmed, replacing Shannen Doherty. Rose will be a "long lost sister" of the Halliwell girls who mysteriously appears. Shannen's character, Prue, will simply "vanish" from the show.

Variety reports that the latest word on who will replace Shannen Doherty on Charmed is that producers are close to signing Rose McGowan. Tey say that negotiations are at an "advanced stage". The first choice of the producers was Jennifer Love Hewitt, however after several talks, it became apparant that her price would be too high, so it looks like McGowan was their next choice.

The WB network officially renewed Charmed today. With Shannen Doherty leaving the show her character is going to be killed off in the series. They have not decided yet, but they are probably going to replace her character with another girl who would be another Halliwell that the sisters didn't know about.

It was officially announced today that Shannen Doherty is leaving Charmed. Reports make it sound like she is just leaving to pursue other things, however people inside the situation say that she was fired for problems that she had been causing on and off the set, especially after her DUI charge. Reporters on the set say that there was a power struggle between Shannen and Alyssa over who was the star of the show and who should get the most airtime.
