"Hi," he said.

"Hi..."she replied. There was an awkward silence.

"I'm sorry," they both said in unison. They laughed.

"You shouldn't be sorry," Nick said.

"Yes I should, I shouldn't have ran out like that."

"And I shouldn't have hurt and confused you like that." Nick said. Jess looked down at her feet and played with her hands. "Come on," Nick said,"Let's walk...we need to have a talk."

They walked through the park and down a few streets.

"Nick, I just don't understand. You kissed me first." Jess had a hint of saddness in her voice, and it pained Nick to know he hurt her already.

"I know, and I'm sorry. I mean not sorry for kissing you, but sorry for doing what I did afterwards. I think we're both worried about what will come in the future."

"Yeah, we haven't known each other more than 48 hours. I know I'm starting to really like you, more than I intended too this fast. And I do want good to come from us. But you aren't exactly home a lot, and here in a few months I'm going back to Indiana. You'll be staying here." Nick's heart broke when he saw the tears stain her eyes.

"Jess, I am willing, I WANT to make this work. I know it will be difficult, but have faith. I'll call all the time, I have your numbers, I'll give you mine. We can e-mail each other. And I'll come up on my breaks. Jess I know we can make this work." By now they had found a bench, and Jess quickly reached over to hug him and cried softly. He kept her in his arms untill she had stopped crying. They walked back to Aunt Meg's house and saw that no one was in the living room. They sat on the couch and just enjoyed each others presence.
