Chapter Fifteen
Kim had gone out with Gary for two years. He was perfect. Then, his parents died in a car crash and he was forced to leave to live with his uncle in California. He and Kim talked on the phone for the first few weeks, but then just stayed in touch with letters because of the phone bills. Day by day, Gary's personality was changing. His parents' death, along with the stress of moving and school, was taking its toll on him. He talked about how he hated his life, and wrote of suicide in a few of his letters to Kim. The letters became less frequent as time went on, and finally they just stopped. Kim sent him many letters but never got a reply. She figured he had moved on in his life and so she did too. She went out and found another perfect guy. He was a lot different from Gary but he was perfect in his own ways. His name was Kyle. She loved him with all her heart.

**Flashback**
They drove down the gravel road in the woods leading to the lake. Kyle was excited. He was going to ask her tonight. They were only 16, but he knew they'd be together forever. He was going to ask her to marry him. They pulled up right near the lake and Kyle leaned over to give Kim a small kiss, which turned into something more. Suddenly, the car door flew open. It was Gary. He grabbed Kyle and threw him out of the car.
"You little-" he kicked Kyle in the stomach twice and Kim started screaming as she jumped out of the car.
"Stop it Gary! Stop!"
"Is this your new boyfriend? What about me huh? What? Just cuz I left means you can run off and sleep around with these little dick heads?" He kicked Kyle again but Kyle was being tough.
"Hey! She's mine now, you stopped writing to her, you practically told her it was over!" Kyle screamed. Gary jumped on top of him and they rolled around fighting. Kim couldn't stop yelling and by now, she was crying. That's when she saw it. A glare shot off from the object Gary had just pulled out from his ankle.
"No!!!!" Kim screamed. Gary raised his arm and brought it down full force, straight into Kyle's stomach. He repeated his actions and Kim was screaming and bawling for him to stop. Kyle lay there, motionless.
"Oh, you don't like that?" Gary asked her, "Now it's just us. We can be together now." Kim ran to get help but Gary caught her and threw her to the ground. He dragged her into his car and she was screaming as he drove her away. She couldn't stop looking back at Kyle's dead body lying there, smothered in blood. Gary took her to his hotel and drug her in. He threw her down on the floor and started beating her. He tied her to a chair and went into the bathroom. That's when she remembered Kyle's cell phone, which was in her coat pocket. It had fallen out of the pocket while Gary was beating her. She saw it not two feet away from her. She tried to kick it and managed to get it next to the chair. She gently knocked the chair over and dialed 911, since her hands were still free.
"911 , what is your emergency?"
Kim leaned into the phone and whispered, "I'm at the Super 8. Please hurry, he's gonna kill me too. Please hurry!" She pushed the phone under the bed where it couldn't be seen. The dispatcher was still on there saying, "Who ma'am? Is someone trying to hurt you? Hello?" Kim jerked herself away from the bed so Gary wouldn't go near it and hear the dispatcher. Before Gary even came out of the bathroom, Kim saw the cops lights coming toward the hotel.
When Gary came out and saw her on the floor he said, "What are you doing? Trying to get away?" He smacked her across the face and said, "You better be good or I'll have to do to you what I did to your little friend back there." That's when she heard the voices of the cops in the hallway.
"You check those and I'll check these!" One yelled. Kim started screaming and an officer burst through the door.
"Freeze!" he said pointing a gun at Gary. They arrested him and Kim told them the whole story in tears.

**Present Day**
He was in her house. AJ was in her house with a killer. She started to get out of the truck when she heard yelling. She ran to the window where it was coming from and she could see the two of them fighting and screamed.
"Gary! No, leave him alone!" Gary managed to get a hold of AJ and had him half way out the two story window.
"Gee, another boyfriend? Gosh girl, you can never hang on to one. I guess we will have to keep this tradition going. Any last words, boy?" he asked AJ. Suddenly, filled with anger, AJ managed to push Gary and was back in the room fighting with him again. Kim ran to the truck and dialed 911. She gave them the address and luckily a cop was in the area, and they were on their way. She ran back to the window to find them still going at it. Soon they were both on the roof, still fighting and AJ was well at the edge.
"AJ!! Look out!"
"Aww what's poor little boyfriend gonna do now?" Gary asked pulling out a knife. AJ slowly looked at the knife, then at Kim. He had no choice but to jump. He could hear the sirens coming but before Kim could tell him to stop, he jumped.
