Inauguration of the Criminal Justice Forum (CJF)    

Prof. K. Chockalingam, Vice Chancellor, MSU, on 14th November 2003, formally inaugurated Criminal Justice Forum (CJF), a forum of the students of the department, aiming to seek contemporary inputs from practicing Criminal Justice Professionals and analyse the crime and justice scenario of the country. Mr. Prateep V. Phillip, IPS, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Tirunelveli range and a Police officer with an academic bent of mind, delivered the inaugural lecture on “Equilibrium thinking”. Earlier, Mr. R. Sateesh Kumar, Secretary, CJF, welcomed the gathering and Ms. A. Sophia, Council Member, CJF, thanked the gathering. 


Special Lectures at the Department….


 On 14th October 2003, Mr. K.R. Shyam Sundar, IPS, Inspector General of Police, Tamil Nadu, delivered a lecture to the students of the university on “How to become an IPS officer?  In his lecture he highlighted the importance of personality development on becoming an IPS officer. He examined various aspects of being a best IPS officer. At the outset, Dr. P. Madhava Soma Sundaram, Reader & Head of DOCCJ, welcomed the gathering. Prof. K.Sadasivan, Member of the Syndicate, Professor and Head, Department of History, gave the memento to the Chief Guest. Mr. S. Ramdoss, Faculty member of DOCCJ, thanked the gathering.

 Mr. K. Senthilathiban, Director, Sparks Developmental Group, delivered a lecture to the students of DOCCJ, on “Victimization prevention”, on 17th November, 2003. He examined various issues on crime prevention and gave a novel dimension of victimization prevention, which is presently done, in developed countries.  Dr. P. Madhava Soma Sundaram, Reader & Head of DOCCJ, presented a memento to the guest speaker. 

Mr. Thol. Thirumavalavan, a Social reformer and activist, delivered a lecture to the students of DOCCJ, on “Casteism and Caste Violence”, on 8th January, 2004. He gave a portrayal of caste system in India and various factors facilitating caste related violence in our society. Prof. T.Paramasivan, Head, Department of Tamil Studies and other faculty members of Tamil studies department, Dr.Kannan of Sociology department, MSU, participated in the programme.  Dr. P. Madhava Soma Sundaram, Reader & Head of DOCCJ, presented a memento to the guest speaker. Earlier, Mr. R. Sateesh Kumar, Secretary, CJF, welcomed the gathering and Mr. Sailapathy, Joint Secretary, CJF, thanked the gathering.
