UL Lafayette's 2001 entry results
(Out of 123 schools competing)
78th Overall
24th in Cost
34th in Design
80th in presentation

Not too bad for a first time competitor!
We were praised by many event judges including Carroll Smith, a recognized leader in reacecar design and author of the "To Win" series of books.

We lost points in the overall competition for getting zeros in the dynamic events.
Only the top 50 or so schools get points according to there times as related to the best time for the events. We were easy on our car in order to complete every event including the all important endurance race. We kept the car running throughout the competition and made it to the endurance race. We did not complete the endurance due to a broken steering rack and pinion.

We were very pleased with our efforts and hope that UL Lafayette can build on this platform we have established.
As Carroll Smith told us, to build a car in one year, the important 1st year, and be this competitive you (UL Lafayette) could be a top 10 team in just a matter of years!
