ABOUT ME

My name is Christie Jean Corigan Fitzgerald. I am 35 years old at the present time and HOLDING "LOL"! I have lived in Texas all of my life. Since 1997, I have lived in Waxahachie, Texas. I knew my grandmother had 16 children, so I decided to start finding out who my ancestors were and started doing Genealogy back in 1992. I started with all of my grandmothers children and went down the line to me, so I do try to keep it updated every year as new ones come into the family. To my surprise, I put all the grandkids in order by birthday and found out, I am the 51st first grandchild. I then started with little information that I did know and went backwards, looking up records at libraries, and now the wonderful tool in my own home, "the Internet"! I took time away from looking up ancestors for about 5 years, due to being a full time mom with 3 children. Now, that the kid's are all in school, I have gone full force in searching again!

After doing some research of the families, I did find that some of our earliest known ancestors from abroad came from England, Native American ancestors, this is what started me in my genealogy quest in the first place in 1992 when I was 20 years old. They are the hardest people to research bar none! Our Family's oral history has always said, "we have some Indian." So I grew up knowing we were, just didn't know where it came from. Every relative that I have corresponded with through the years have all said the same thing. "Yes, I was told we have some Indian." Well, After I grew up and all my grandparents had passed on, I decided to find out "who" was Indian? Since I was always told I had some�. I wanted to know "how" was I? Where did this Indian ancestor come from? What tribe? Where did they live? Through the years I have heard everything from Cherokee (from one family member), to "I'm not sure, but I know we have some"! It is said that the BOX, SUTTON, & ROBERTSON Families are the one's with the Indian in them. I have noticed that most of these families are from North Carolina-'Alabama-'Mississippi-'Oklahoma-' to Texas!
