In October, some people in the group took a trip to Siena, which is about 2 hours north of Rome by train). We had a tour guide, Matt, who is a seminarian who works with us, give us a tour of Siean since he lived there for 5 months. We got to see a lot of things, including the church of San Francesco, which holds the "Miraculous Hosts." The chalice the hosts were in was stolen about 250+ years ago. The hosts were returned, but the chalice was not. Since then, the hosts have not deteriorated at all, they have not molded, cracked or anything. John Paul II even visited here years ago. |
