Not So Different: The Proposal
Crichton felt his shoulder where he knew he had gotten hit but there was no wound there.  His weapons had been taken and he was now in a cell for prisoners and he could only guess what was going to happen.  He could hear voice in the far distance of the cell area, and he knew he heard his name one or two time.  A male about his age came to him his hair was raven black and his eye a honey brown.  He had a small smile on his face as he looked down at Crichton.

Are you Crichton, he said.

Yes, Crichton said.

The mans smile never left his face he just looked at him for sometime and then left, Crichton had no idea what was going on.  He could tell this was not there normal process of bringing in a prisoner and his bad feeling started to grow.  His eyes seem to grow heavy so he decided to get some sleep who knew what they had in plan for him.

Crichton woke up feeling very disorientate and he knew sometime had passed.  He looked around and knew this was not his cell that they put him in.  As he sat up he started to look around the good size room that he found himself in.  He was in a room on a ship, but instead of being treated like a prisoner they treat him like a guest.  A woman about in her early teens walks in and looks at him.  He could see how her eyes widen in fear and she sat down some clothing.

Commander Crichton, she said softly.

Yes...who are you and where am I, Crichton said.

Im Jesscuia, and I will be your guide while you are on this ship.  You may want to clean up.  The showers are over there and Ill return in half of an arn to take you to the Captain, Jesscuia said.

Ok look I dont know what is happeningJessie.  You dont mind I call you Jessie do you, Crichton asked.

Of course not Commander, Jessie said.

Ok, Jessie where am I, Crichton said.

You are on a Peacekeeper training carrier, Jessie said

"And why am I here," Crichton said.

Because this ship will take you to the Peacekeeper Councilthey very much want to see the great Commander Crichton.  Dont worry sir you are no longer a wanted fugitivethey could care less about you and your friends now that they have Talyn, Jessie said.

She watched Crichton for a few more moments and then left the room.  Crichton decided he could use a shower and meeting this captain he still wondered about that.  He saw the clothing Jessie left was a Peacekeeper Uniform similar to those in command.  He picked it up and noticed he that she had laid his weapon under the clothing along with the few personal items he had taken.  There was something totally wrong with this and he knew it now this was proof.  Why would the people who want to kill him give him his weapon and personal items back?  He took his clothes lied them on the bed and took his shower and put on the uniform that Jessie had left.  He then put on his belt on and checked pulse pistol to see if it worked and it did.  He was tying his boots when he heard a knock at his door and he gave a slight smile.

Come in Jessie, he said.

So you know we are only minutes away from the docking pointand Captain Venatar wants to meet you, she said.

How long I have I been out, Crichton said.

A few days sir, Jessie said.

Jessie how old are you, he asked.

I am 14 cycles sir, she

Were you born a peacekeeper, he asked.

No, my parents didnt want a girl so they gave me up sir, she said.

Sorry, he said.

Here we are sir, she said leading him in to large room.

A man about the age of 40 maybe 50 sat up from his desk.  He was only about an inch or tow taller then Crichton was, but had the same amount of gray hair as his father.  His face had a few scares and Crichton knew they were from battles he had fought in the past.  Then Crichton looked at his face and he had a smile on his face as if he was meeting a hero of some sorts.

Commander Crichton it is an honor to finally met you, Venatar said.

Finally meet me, Crichton said confused.

Yes over the last two cycles your name has been on every wanted list and some of us on the council wished it not.  Crais explained you helped him even though he wanted you dead and that you swore youd kill him if you ever saw him again because he stole Talyn and gave him to the peacekeepers, Venatar explained.

Yea...Jessie just told me you wanted to see not congratulate me, Crichton said.

Jessie, Venatar said.

Me sir, she said.

You know I like that name is so much simpler.  Shall we go the rest of the council doesnt like to wait too long, Venatar said.

For a Peacekeeper Venatar was happy man with a chipper attitude and Crichton had to admit that he already like him even if he was a peacekeeper.  Crichton walked into a large room with five or six Peacekeeper looking straight at him, but the look was one he had never seen in the eyes of any peacekeeper before.  He blended in very well with the peacekeeper uniform on.  Any one from outside of the peacekeepers would think he was just another peacekeeper seeing the council on business.  A woman who was in her late 50s early 60s stood up, her eyes were an ice blue and unlike the others she had no scare on his face.  Just like Aeryn he could tell she was trying to seem emotionless, along with the others.  Venatar had taken his seat which was at the end of the table and the look he gave him when he met Venatar was on everyone eye also.

Are you Commander John Crichton, human of an unknown world, she asked.

Yes Im Crichton and Im from Earth, Crichton said as emotionless.

We want to offer you a position, she said.

One I cant refuse, Crichton said.

You canbut I would not recommend it, Venatar said.

Listen Commander not many other species can defeat us as you have, you have proven your self and other humans are not a lesser species so please just hear us out, she said then a male stood up.

Im listening, Crichton said.

You will be put in charge of your own carrier, promoted to a senior officer and made a member of our secret organization, he said.

Secret organization, Crichton said.

Yes, it main purpose is to stop the scarrens.  Your mission is to stop them from getting a hold of a system not far form hereit will not be easy and may take many cycles to complete, but we think you can do it, he said.

So let me get this straightyou want to make me a Captain and a member of this secret organization so I can rid one of your systems of one of your worst enemies, or face my own death, Crichton said.

Yes Commander, the woman said.

Crichtonthink about it before you decide Venatar said.

If you let Moya and her crew go you got a deal, he

You mean forget about them, a male said.

Yesif they can be free Ill do it, Crichton said seeing they all look at each other.

I agree, Venatar said.

Than it is settled you leave in four daysCaptain and welcome to the peacekeepers, she said.

Crichton spent the next three days going over all the PK rules and regulations and his cover.  As he read more and more of the regulations it seemed they went that far from Earth just a little more violent in some ways.  It seems that the peacekeepers have been looking for him for a while also.  Word had got out that he killed a scarren on the Royal Planet and that when the council got this idea.  He had to admit he was getting used to the uniform already, but secretly hoped that Moya would come.  He slept safe knowing that they were safer and that he would be doing something good even if he was a peacekeeper.  He then walked in his office and waited for the rest of his crew to arrive and then his mission would start.  It was kind of ironic some how he thought.  He was now his own enemy, how many times had he told Aeryn he wouldnt be caught dead as a peacekeeper and now he was a captain.

It had been a week and they had not came across any scarrens which in some ways were a good thing and in some ways where a bad thing.  Then they detected another peacekeeper vessel in the distance, but this one was not like any other vessel they had come across, it was Talyn.

Hell-O Captain Crichton, Crais said.

What do you want Crais, Crichton said.

Is that any way to treat a fellow peacekeeper, Crais said with a smile.

Crichton knew Crais was loving every minute of this and Crichton had to find the upper hand and he knew he would.  They started to walk towards Crichton office so he could find out what Crais wanted.  Crichton took his seat and watched Crais look around until he came to his picture.

Good picture of Officer Sun, Crais said.

Thanks, Crichton said.

So you two areclose, Crais asked.

Verywhat do you want Crais, Crichton said.

Well Captain Talyn has been wondering about Moya, Crais said.

She very wellMoya is no longer wanted and she misses him, Crichton said.

Thank you CaptainCrichton if you ever need any help Talyn and I will be happy to be of assistance Crais said.

Thanks Ill keep that in mind, Crichton said.

Crais left minutes later and Crichton watched him go and noticed how much bigger Talyn had gotten.  He smiled to himself as he thought of what Aeryn would think if she saw him.  Crais was not Aeryn favorite person anymore since he took Talyn from Moya-- and her.

Crichton couldnt believe that they had been in their third battle that week and the ship was still in the best shape.  The last battle they were in where with a group if people who shot at them because they went into their system of planets.  Crichton warned them not to shot, but they didnt listen.

Fire, Crichton said.

Enemy ship destroyed Sir, Vena said.

Sir we have a transmission, a woman said.

Let see it, Crichton said.

Hell-O Alien shipI am the Emperor Bveal of this planet.  We have just witness the destruction of one of our biggest ship and would like to know who is in command of you ship, Bveal said,

Emperor Bveal I am Captain John Crichton commanding officer of this ship, Crichton said.

Well Captain Crichton you have earned our respect how may we help you, Bveal said.

For two days and nights they had a celebration in Crichton and his crew honor.  Some customs were strange but most enjoyable for the crew.  Crichton had to explain that he was already taken and could not marry Emperor Bveals oldest daughter.  Emperor Bveal accepted his answer and didnt bother him about it any more.  The crew somewhat sad they had to leave the planet but happy they were going back out to fight the scarrens.

They have some weird traditions, Vena said.

Ill agree to that, Crichton said.

Captain if you dont mind me askingwhat would you have done if you werent with Aeryn, Vena said.

Commander Vena as my first officer you may askedI would of said we were to be married, Crichton said with a slight smile.

Vena left with a wider smile then she had when she entered.  Vena had become one of Crichtons good friends board this ship and she helped him understand more about sebacean customs.  In 2 months he knew he was going to have a few friends and none of the crew saw him as a lesser species because he was not sebacean.  The only thing that was really bothering him is what everyone aboard Moya would think of him now.
