�Jason,� Sonny said.
�I think you need to get a new maid,� Jason said.
�What are you doing here,� Sonny said.
�I was coming to make sure you were okay,� Jason said.
�What do you think�I betrayed my best friend�I slept with the women your in love with,� Sonny said.
�I�m not in love with Carly...and I know it just happened,� Jason said.
�So I still betrayed you,� Sonny said turning of the fire leaving the room.
�Okay did I hate you yes,� Jason said.
�You can�t trust me,� Sonny said.
�I trust you with my life...Carly was hurting you were hurting it happened, so forgive yourself,� Jason said.
�You can do that forgive me trust me come back to work for me because I couldn�t,� Sonny said.
�Neither could I�until Elizabeth she�s taught me things,� Jason said
�Elizabeth...she�s a nice girl,� Sonny said.
�If you go near her I�ll kill you,� Jason said.
Sonny started to laugh knowing Jason was joking and he was. Jason hugged Sonny and them laughing was music to Johnny�s ear. Jason said he was ready for work and he was he needed it. He walked over to his Pen House glad Sonny kept the heater on. He really needed to redecorate Elizabeth would help him he knew she would.
�That�s great,� Elizabeth said.
�That means you�ll be living alone,� Jason said.
�Actually I�m thinking about looking for an apartment,� Elizabeth said.
�Besides this place,� Jason said.
�I said thinking about, it�s not like I�ve signed a lease or anything,� Elizabeth said.
�How about we go for a ride on New Years Eve,� Jason said.
�The prefect a way to welcome new Millennium,� Elizabeth said.
�Thought you might like that idea,� Jason said.
�Are you sure you�re ready,� Elizabeth said.
�Yea I�ll pick you up say seven,� Jason said.
Sonny was on his way out when he Jason walked out his Pen House smiling. It had been a long time since he�d seen Jason smile like that. The last time he smiled like that was before Robin betrayed him and got his son taken away. Sonny knew how much that hurt him how much he hurt him.
�Nice shirt,� Sonny said smiling.
�Christmas present from Elizabeth,� Jason said.
�You going to see her,� Sonny asked.
�Yea we�re going for our first ride since the shooting,� Jason said.
�So you thought you�d dress up a bit,� Sonny said.
�I gave her my jacket she gave me this and we agreed that we�d wear them on our first,� Jason said.
�Have fun Jason�and be careful,� Sonny said.
�I�m glad I didn�t go to a doctor,� Jason said.
�Why,� Sonny asked.
�Because you and Elizabeth do all the doctoring I need,� Jason said walking off.
Sonny smile as he made his way towards the elevator. It was nice to have Jason back nice that they started to rebuild their friendship. Jason was kind of glad that it happened it let him finally say goodbye to Carly once and for all. He knew he would forgive her someday he just needed a bit more time. Sonny had never hurt him before but Carly did it all the time and he needed time with this one.
�How do I look,� Elizabeth said.
�You look ready for a ride,� Jason said.
�You didn�t have to wear that it�s pretty cold out here,� Elizabeth said.
�We made an agreement...hop on,� Jason said.
�I�m not hurting you am I,� Elizabeth said wrapping her arms around him.
�No pain at all...so where to,� Jason said starting the engine.
�Nowhere�fast,� Elizabeth said.
Elizabeth had forgotten just how fun this was it had been almost two month since they went for their last ride. She had found him almost a month ago in the snow bleeding. She didn�t know if the ride last two minutes or two hours all she knew is they stopped outside her Studio.
�I swear it still feels like we're flying,� Elizabeth said.
�You said you wanted to go fast...that was fast,� Jason said. .
�Yeah, but it was more wasn�t it...I mean, I'm not just imagining that...Jason I could barely breathe,� Elizabeth said.
�Maybe you were scared that I was going to lose control of the bike,� Jason said.
�No, I could feel you laughing�You love it, don�t you,� Elizabeth said smiling.
�Almost as much as you do...come on, let�s get you inside its freezing,� Jason said.
�See you should have worn a warmer shirt,� Elizabeth said.
Jason just gives her a smile and shake of his head as he get his key out and unlocks the door. He still had no idea why she wanted him to have a key but he did. Jason didn�t notice someone watching them from the shadow. Sorel watched with a smile knowing he would hit Sonny Corinthos loyal right hand man where it counts.
�You up for some hot chocolate or I have some soup I could heat up,� Elizabeth said smiling.
�Mm, soup no, thanks,� Jason said.
�You are never going to be able to eat soup again,� Elizabeth said.
�You fed gallons of it to me,� Jason said.
�It got you well didn�t it,� Elizabeth said.
�Yea if it wasn�t for you I wouldn�t be here I owe you,� Jason said.
�No you don�t I�m your friend I care about you and your health,� Elizabeth said.
�What�s wrong,� Jason said.
�I don�t know I have a bad feeling, like something bad is going to happen,� Elizabeth said.
Jason just looked at her as she handed him a glass of hot chocolate. He sat down on her couch seeing she had gotten rid of the floor mattress she used to sleep on. He couldn�t help but look at her face she was really worried about something. Then like lightening her face changed into a smile as she looked at him then sat next to him.
�If it wasn�t for you, I'd be somewhere in a room full of people with a new dress on, smiling,� Elizabeth said.
�Good to know I can still rescue you,� Jason said.
�When you rescue me at Jake�s last summer maybe you didn�t save my life but you definitely made it better,� Elizabeth said.
�Happy New Year Elizabeth,� Jason said.
�Happy New Year Jason,� Elizabeth said.
�Goodnight,� Jason said.
�Goodnight,� Elizabeth said.
She leaned over to him and kissed his cheek he looked at her smiling and walked out of the door. Elizabeth knew that she shouldn�t feel what she felt for him but she did. Even though she loved Lucky she felt herself falling for Jason more and more everyday. But she couldn�t shake this feeling that something horrible was going to happen.
It was a bit after ten o�clock when Jason left and he suddenly got a real bad feeling. Jason knew something was up when he saw a man watching Elizabeth building. The guy never knew what hit him when Jason attacked him knowing Elizabeth was in danger. His worse fear was coming true he had put Elizabeth in danger; god only knows why he was watching this building.
�Tell me why were you looking at that building you better start talking to me...Why are you so nervous,� Jason said.
�I've seen this guy around the warehouse...he and a pal beat me up once on Sorel�s orders,� Roy said.
�You want to return the favor,� Jason said.
�I thought you'd never ask...you ever had trouble coughing...You ever had trouble breathing,� Roy asked.
�There�s a,� Man began.
�There�s a what,� Roy asked
�There�s a bomb under the table set to go off,� Man said.
For a few second Jason didn�t know what to do his whole body had gone numb. Then like someone had turned on a light he ran as fast as he could to her building. Roy was behind him the man was forgotten all that mattered was Elizabeth. Kicking her door open he ran in to her studio to see she was trying to sleep on the couch.
�Elizabeth, there�s a bomb you have to get out come on,� Jason said.
�What,� Elizabeth said in shock.
�Come on, let�s go come on,� Jason said.
�Jason,� Elizabeth said.
�Let�s go hurry,� Jason said rushing her out as Roy stays behind.
Elizabeth mind was going a hundred mile pre minute right now she couldn�t believe this was happening. She could sense something from Jason the fear he felt. Jason remembered what she told him before he left she felt like something bad was going to happen. All he could think of was making sure she was safe making sure he didn�t get her killed.
�You okay,� Jason asked.
�Fine...where�s Roy,� Elizabeth asked.
�Just stay here,� Jason said.
�You can�t go in there...why is Roy still in there anyways,� Elizabeth asked.
�I guess he�s trying to defuse the bomb,� Jason said. .
�Ok, but you can�t go in there...all you would do is get in his way,� Elizabeth said.
�Ok here put this on,� Jason said smiling
�Thanks,� Elizabeth said taking his jacket.
Bobbie came and Elizabeth told her what was going on it took Jason to keep her from going in the building until Roy walked out smiling. Bobbie rushed over to him hugging him tightly as he walked out. Bobbie didn�t know if she wanted to hit him or kill him.
�We have to call the police,� Bobbie asked.
�No,� Elizabeth said.
�Why not,� Bobbie asked.
�What exactly would I say to them,� Elizabeth asked.
�The truth,� Bobbie said.
�And then they�ll ask Jason and Roy how they knew it was there how Roy defused it,� Elizabeth asked.
�I get it,� Bobbie said.
�45 minutes until midnight,� Jason said.
�What a way to start the new century,� Bobbie said.
�Depends on your point of view,� Roy said.
�You can not stay here,� Bobbie said ignoring Roy�s comment.
�She can stay with me,� Jason said.
Sonny was walking into the building about the same time as Jason and Elizabeth. It was after midnight and Jason seemed worried like something happened. Sonny just kept reliving his time in the elevator with Carly. There was never a women who could get to him like that before. He was glad that all three of them made it to the elevator at the same time.
�Jason is everything okay,� Sonny asked.
�No�someone put a bomb in Elizabeth studio,� Jason said.
�Are you okay,� Sonny asked.
�I�m fine,� Elizabeth said.
�Roy defused it,� Jason said as they got on.
Elevator ride was spent on Sonny asking her exactly what happened trying to see if she saw anyone. She didn�t Jason said he�d be over in a few minutes. Jason showed her to the guest room she could see he was still worried about the whole thing. She walked over to him the fear was in his eyes she hadn�t seen it before but it was there right now. After a few moments he walked out going to see Sonny.
�Did anyone call the police,� Sonny said
�No Bobbie wanted to but Elizabeth stopped her,� Jason said.
�She did,� Sonny said.
�She didn�t know how to explain how Roy and I knew it was there and Roy defusing it,� Jason said.
�Smart girl...is she handling this emotionally,� Sonny said.
�For now she�s a strong person,� Jason said.
�It was probably Sorel,� Sonny said.
�What happens next time Sonny...he knows she means something to me,� Jason said.
�First thing is we keep her safe, She doesn�t go anywhere without Francis,� Sonny said.
Sonny started going over option to keep her safe but Jason wasn�t listen all he could think of was her dead. When he was with Robin he didn�t think of that a lot. He knew she understood what she was getting herself into. She was in love with Stone, who had been Sonny�s best friend. Carly never stayed around long enough for him to get worried but Elizabeth was different.
�Maybe I should just end our friendship,� Jason said.
�That�ll leave her defenseless and alone,� Sonny said.
�That�s what you did with Brenda,� Jason said.
�And where is she now,� Sonny said.
�We could put a guard on her�me being near her will kill her,� Jason said.
�Jason, don�t end this because you�re scared,� Sonny said.
�Why...why risk her life,� Jason said.
�She knows what she got herself in to,� Sonny said.
�Did she all she knew was she was helping a friend...she�s eighteen she�s still a kid,� Jason said.
�No she�s not and Jason, stop trying to rationalize it so you�ll be able to push her away,� Sonny said.
�Why put her in danger because I care about her,� Jason said.
�She�s the best thing to happen to you in a long time do you want to throw that away,� Sonny said.
Jason just looked at Sonny knowing he was trying to help but he couldn�t get past the fact that he had put her in danger. Sonny had decided that putting her in a safe house would probably be the best thing for now. Jason left a few minutes later both deciding to talk to her tomorrow about the safe house. When he walked in he saw her on his couch knees to her chest in deep thought.
�All because I slept on your couch doesn�t mean you have to sleep on mine,� Jason said.
�I was thinking,� Elizabeth said.
�Elizabeth I think that maybe it would be best if I end this,� Jason said.
�End what,� Elizabeth said.
�Us...are friendship,� Jason said.
�I don�t think so,� Elizabeth said.
�You could have died tonight�you don�t understand,� Jason said.
�I don�t understand�I didn�t understand when you were shot either did I,� Elizabeth said.
�Elizabeth,� Jason said.
�No I understand Jason, I understand you�re scared and you want to push me away,� Elizabeth said.
�I don�t want to I have to,� Jason said.
�No I could have died tonight, I could have died when I helped you too or back in August,� Elizabeth said.
�No it�s different now, they know what you mean to me,� Jason said.
�Jason I gave up everything for you,� Elizabeth said.
�I didn�t ask you too,� Jason said.
�Out of everyone I know, I thought you were different...I thought you understood my mistake,� Elizabeth said.
Sonny heard Jason yell her name heard the door slam so he knew Jason did what he told him not to. He quickly made his way to the hall seeing her go towards the elevator. Sonny rushed as fast as he could towards her knowing if she left she would be in danger. If she got hurt Jason would never forgive himself.
�What do you want,� Elizabeth said.
�You can�t leave you know that,� Sonny said.
�I�m sure Bobbie won�t mind me staying with her for tonight,� Elizabeth said.
�Not it�s to dangerous stay in my guest room until we figure this out,� Sonny said.
�No,� Elizabeth said.
�Elizabeth these men won�t stop, you�re safe here you won�t be there,� Sonny said.
�Fine,� Elizabeth said walking past him.
Sonny was now understanding what Jason meant by not wanting to get her mad. Jason didn�t get any sleep but he knew that Sonny would stop her. Send one of the guards out to watch her to make sure she was safe. Sonny could hear that she was crying and he knew it wasn�t about the bomb it was about Jason.
�Hey Sonny,� Jason said.
�Keep it down Elizabeth still asleep,� Sonny said.
�She stayed here,� Jason said.
�In the guest room she said a total of two things to me,� Sonny said.
�I trust you Sonny,� Jason laughed.
�Yea she was crying when I went to sleep at two,� Sonny said.
�I did what was best,� Jason said.
�No you didn�t you got rid of the best thing in your life,� Sonny said.
�I�m going to talk to her,� Jason said.
�Jason when you talk to her...be careful she was very mad last night,� Sonny said.
Jason watched her as she slept in the bed her face showed no pain it was completely peaceful. He remembered how hard it was for him to make her understand. Then it was one little statement that hurt him more then it hurt her. He wished he hadn�t said it she�d done everything for him. It all ended all too quickly for him because she started to move and open her eyes.
�Jason,� Elizabeth said.
�Hey,� Jason said.
�What do you want,� Elizabeth said.
�To talk to you,� Jason said.
�About,� Elizabeth said.
�About keeping you safe,� Jason said.
�I thought you already made that decision for us,� Elizabeth said.
Jason gave her a soft smile as he sat down next to her. She wouldn�t look at him it would be to hard to look at him to have him this close yet to have him so far away. He was looking at her smiling at how beautiful she looked right now. He�d never admitted that before. Always kept making excuses why he couldn�t, she was kid, she was Lucky�s girlfriend but right now he didn�t care. He moved her hair out of her face he didn�t miss that she closed her eyes as his hand touch her skin.
�Elizabeth there are no words for what I feel about you and I can�t lose you,� Jason said.
�If you have your way you will,� Elizabeth said.
�But it�ll keep you alive,� Jason said.
�Do you wished I didn�t help you, that I just left you there to die,� Elizabeth said.
�No when I said I didn�t ask you to I was mad that you were fighting me,� Jason said.
�You taught me how to fight Jason...how to be true to myself,� Elizabeth said.
�Sonny wants to send you to a safe house but I have another idea,� Jason said.
�What,� Elizabeth said.
�Move in with me,� Jason said.
�What,� Elizabeth said.
�You were thinking about getting an apartment anyways,� Jason said.
�One moment you want to send me away the next you want me in the next room,� Elizabeth said.
�It�s prefect I can protect you, and you don�t have to pay rent so you can keep your studio,� Jason said.
�I�ll pay rent,� Elizabeth said.
�No you won�t you can buy the food and redecorate it as you like,� Jason said.
�Deal,� Elizabeth said.
