�Matt is Kanin here,� Vivian said.
�No he�s looking at a house,� Matthew said.
�Good we need to talk�it�s about Sophia,� Vivian said.
�What is she ok,� Matthew said.
�Matthew as alpha leader I feel I must tell you,� Vivian said not knowing what to say.
�I know she flipped�I could smell it and I smelled your son not his sent but him,� Matthew said
�Then you know he wants her as his mate,� Vivian said.
�It isn�t final until they marry you know that,� Matthew said.
�So how is Kanin doing,� Vivian said.
�He still doesn�t know that the blood was put in him,� Matthew said.
�Ruby still gone and Tyler can�t find her,� Vivian said.
Sherman watched the two adults talk about what ever they were talking about. He knew they had no idea he helped the professor and he would keep it that way. Kanin had a destiny and he was going to full fill it. The house he was about to give him was the best house he knew of.
�This one safe right,� John said.
�Yes but this one not for rent it�s for sale,� Sherman said.
�For sale I don�t know,� John said.
�Three options Buy it, leave Wolf Lake, or stay in the lounge forever,� Sherman said.
�I choose the first one,� John said.
�Let go talk prices,� Sherman said.
�You look happy,� Matthew said.
�John bought the blue house,� Sherman said.
�He can�t stay here forever,� Matthew said.
�He�s here for a reason,� Sherman said.
�What reason,� Matthew asked.
�That is not yet clear,� Sherman said.
John looked at his new house and went inside. The bed would be here soon along with all his other stuff that wasn�t destroyed on the fire. He called Seattle and had his stuff moved down here. It was a nice big house, with more room then he knew he needed but it didn�t cost a lot. John lied on the blanket he had put out and fell asleep. The same dream come to him again, the dream he saw since that night in the RV.
A white wolf came up to him and he ran in the woods. He saw Sherman, Vivian, Sophia, Luke and Matthew. Other people came to him to, people from the town and that church. Then they all disappeared and Tyler along with Ruby came, she was holding his hand with a sad smile. Tyler then would fall down as if he died and she�d run to him. She never spoke she just held out her hand to him. This time he took her hand and she looked into his eyes. Her hand went to his face and she gently kissed him.
�Sherman Blackstone has all the answers you seek,� Ruby said then turned into the wolf.
He shot up in his bed sweat pouring off his body and his clothing soaked. He was running a fever and these dreams were getting more intense. He had half a mind to go back to Seattle and start with his normal life and forget about Wolf Lake. Then he looked at Ruby�s picture and those thoughts left his mind. His head was pounding, his vision was blurry and the room was spinning.
�We need to talk,� John said.
�Of course,� Sherman said.
�How much blood did that guy take from that wolf,� John said.
�Don�t worry that wolf system has already replaced all the blood he took,� Sherman said.
�Good�did any blood actually go into my system,� John said.
�Didn�t Sheriff Donner tell you,� Sherman said.
�No,� John said.
�Yes,� Sherman said.
�How much,� John asked.
�2 pints,� Sherman said.
John felt a little dizzy and sat down, but left Sherman�s house a few moments later. Sherman smiled as John got into his car and drove off. He knew Vivian would be mad at him, for she wanted John to know nothing but that wasn�t in his plans. Professor Arthur Van Halen had made his mark on Wolf Lake and on the life of John Kanin just John didn�t know it yet.
Sophia had her back pressed against the locker while Luke hand his arms on both side of hers. Both their hormones were going crazy the last few days. Or it could be she wasn�t used to these high of sexual desire and need yet. He leaned forwards and kissed her not so gently. The soft kiss that Derek gave her after their movie was nothing compared to these kisses. She needed the force that Luke put in his kisses, and she knew no human could do that.
�Mr. Cates and Miss Donner,� Mrs. Den said.
�Mrs. Den,� Luke said.
�This is my second warning next time it is a referral,� Mrs. Den said.
�Because of a simple kiss,� Sophia said.
�This is a school not a make out center now go to class,� Mrs. Den said.
�So what are you two up to,� Presley said.
�Getting in trouble for kissing,� Luke said.
�If it isn�t Mr. football star himself,� Sophia said as Derek walked in.
�I heard he dating Sherry,� Sara said.
�Good he can push her in front of a wolf,� Sophia said.
�I still can�t believe he did that,� Sean said.
Class went to order when the teacher came in. Sherry, Liz, and Lucy watched from the other side of the room as Luke hung on Sophia. To them Sophia had gone through a whole change over night and they didn�t understand why. They had lost two friends already to the hill kids they hoped they didn�t lose anymore. Mrs. Den watched and shook her head she didn�t understand why that teacher and Sherman let those kids get away with it. She had to do something about it, she didn�t want to see Sophia turn out like her brother, Vince.
�You what,� Vivian said.
�I told him I didn�t know that I wasn�t suppose to,� Sherman said.
�He�s going to ask questions,� Tyler said.
�He won�t�yet,� Sherman said leaving them.
�Matthew bring him in for tests�who knows what going to happen to him,� Vivian said.
�Alright,� Matthew said.
Matthew went to John�s home to find and get him. He knew John was home since his car was in the driveway, but there was no sign of him being inside the house. There were a few boxes in the house but not that many at least not yet. There was picture of him and Ruby and had a few other people in it. He walked into the kitchen and found John on the floor, he ran over to him. He was sweating and burning up with a fever and Matthew expected the worse.
�Doctor Wall what�s wrong,� Matthew said.
�The wolf blood is multiplying it self�I would say it�s becoming dominate,� Doctor Wall said.
�Are you saying he going through the change,� Tyler said.
�Yes�this is not suppose to happen it�s like his human blood is dying,� Doctor Wall said.
�Have you ever seen this before,� Vivian said.
�Yes they all died. They�d all show progress but then when it was time to flip they�d die,� Doctor Wall said.
�Poor Kanin,� Tyler said smiling.
�Shut up Tyler�is there a possibility he could live,� Matthew asked.
�Yes�it�s coming fast. I�d say 2 days at the most and he�ll even be with the pack or dead,� Doctor Wall said.
Ruby was in the forest watching as they drove away, she hoped and prayed they didn�t see her. She was lucky enough to find some clothing and put them on. She walked across the street and into the hospital and went to John�s room. His fever had gone up to 103� F and he was still sweating badly. She walked in and looked at him and frowned knowing she caused this, she went over to his and kiss his forehead.
�Ruby,� John said.
�Hi,� Ruby said.
�What happening to me,� John said.
�Your about to flip�I�m so sorry John. You know Wolf Lake secret right,� Ruby said.
�Yes the people on the hill can shape-shift into wolves�Ruby did you ever love me,� John asked.
�Yes�you know that I married Tyler,� Ruby said.
�Yes�do you love him,� Ruby said.
�No�I never we never,� Ruby said.
�I know,� John said closing his eyes in pain.
�John you�re going to get an urge to flip give in and be strong,� Ruby said.
�Go before they catch you,� John said.
�I love you,� Ruby said.
�I love you too,� John said and she was gone.
�Hell-O Vivian,� Ruby said.
�Ruby you�re back,� Vivian said.
�I want my marriage to Tyler annulled,� Ruby said.
�I see,� Vivian said.
�I won�t leave if you give me that,� Ruby said.
�You know what�s happening to John,� Vivian said.
�Please�the only reason Tyler wants me is to be the alpha male and you know it,� Ruby said.
�He loves you but you love John,� Vivian said.
�You loved my father�would you have just married another if you couldn�t be with him,� Ruby said.
�No I wouldn�t have�I�ll give this to you but you will be in my debt,� Vivian said.
�Thank you,� Ruby said.
�You can�t do this,� Tyler said.
�I can and I did right Mother,� Ruby said.
�As of now you two were never married,� Vivian said.
Tyler left mad and she only hopped he didn�t go to John and killed him. John was getting stronger but he was still weak and she didn�t know if he had flipped. Ruby left to go straight there and was happy that she was able to go where she pleased. She walked into the hospital to find John up and walking around freely. His sent had changed and she knew that he had flipped.
�Ruby,� John said.
�You can never leave,� Ruby said.
�Vivian said I can since I have family outside of here, but for no longer then two days,� John said.
�How are you are you ok,� Ruby said.
�I hurt, my senses are way better, and I can shape shift to a furry four-legged animal,� John said.
�It takes some getting used to,� Ruby said.
�I still want to marry you,� John said.
�Great�but we choose a mate for life. Once we have sex there no turning back,� Ruby said.
�Ruby I think we�ve already did that,� John said.
�Ruby,� John said.
�What,� Ruby said walking in to seeing him on the phone.
�Tyler was just arrested for the murder of your father and your kidnapping,� John said.
�How,� Ruby said.
�Well they found your room and an old man who said he saw Tyler pull the trigger,� John asked.
�Where is Tyler now,� Ruby asked John hung up the phone.
�Don�t know�but Matthew said he also arrested him for my attempted murder,� John said.
�The fire,� Ruby said.
�Yes,� John said.
�We need to talk about the wedding,� Ruby said.
�Vivian said she thinks we should have a traditional wedding,� John said.
�Sophia,� Sherry said.
�What,� Sophia said.
�We were wondering if you wanted to go and see a movie,� Lucy said.
�I�m busy,� Sophia said.
�With what Luke and your new friends,� Liz said.
�Actually I have homework,� Sophia said.
Sophia got up and went over to Luke who smiled at her. It had only been a few days since she had flipped but she had changed so much. She was one of the pack and she was loyal to them. Derek had given him a few dirty looks during school but Luke didn�t mind. Sheriff Donner walked in to see Sophia serving Luke and his friends but she knew he was there.
�Sophia,� Matthew said.
�Yes dad,� Sophia said.
�Can we talk,� Matthew said.
�Sure dad�I�ll get you that pie,� Sophia said to Sean.
�Dad why did we have to go outside I�m on duty,� Sophia said.
�I know you�ve flipped and I know you and Luke are together,� Matthew said.
�Dad�I�m sorry I didn�t tell you,� Sophia said.
�It�s ok�I can�t choose your life but think before you choose a Luke as a mate,� Matthew said.
�Dad I love Luke and he loves me,� Sophia said.
�The weird thing is that I know that,� Matthew said.
�How,� Sophia said.
�Luke looks at you the way I looked at your mother,� Matthew said.
�So what did the Sheriff say,� Sean asked.
�He knew I flipped and he wanted me to be happy,� Sophia said.
�So he�s ok with all this,� Luke said.
�Yes�but he said if you break my heart he�ll hunt you down and kill you,� Sophia said.
�When are you off duty,� Presley said.
�20 minutes,� Sophia said.
�We�ll wait,� Sara said.
�Come on,� Luke said and all the guys followed.
�Look if it isn�t sluts-r-us,� Sherry said.
�I�d take that back Sherry,� Presley said.
�Make me,� Sherry said as Presley went towards her.
�Presley no,� Sophia said getting in front of her.
Presley looked at Sophia and listened she sat down and Sophia got up and started to do her work. They left but not after saying a few more words to Sophia and her friends. Luke had seen the whole thing and knew the Presley and all the others though of her as the second leader. The teens lived like the adults and had their own alpha usually the son of the alpha male and his girlfriend was usually the alpha female. So Sophia was now in a command position what she said they would do no matter what.
�Sophia we�re going to have to do something about them,� Presley said.
�I know�but a physical fight is no fun we�re so much stronger then them,� Sophia said.
�True what do you have in mind,� Presley said.
�I don�t know I need time to think of something,� Sophia said.
�How about a late night run by the lake,� Sara said.
�That sounds cool,� Sophia said.
Sophia went back to work and watched as John and Ruby walked by. She smiled at him as he looked at her, he lived his whole life as a human and free. He gave that all up for her, in one moment he turned his whole world upside down just to be with her. But their lives were just beginning she knew that Tyler wasn�t going to let this or Ruby go. That was if Vivian would let him and his �friends� live. She knew that anyone who worked for Tyler Creed would do almost anything to help him, but die she wasn�t so sure about. Everyone in town though he was guilty of Willard Cates murder, and the kidnapping of Ruby Cates. They worked it out so well, everyone knew the truth and so did John but he wouldn�t tell.
�Ruby come back to bed,� John said.
�John can we have a wedding with both our families together,� Ruby said looking from the window to him.
�Yes Vivian said she promised to have a nice normal human wedding,� John said.
�Really,� Ruby said.
�If we also have a Wolf Lake kind of wedding before that one,� John said.
�How soon,� Ruby said.
�Fast,� John said.
�Like how fast,� Ruby said.
�Like two days from now,� John said.
Ruby looked out the window again and saw Luke and Sophia walking hand-in-hand down the street. She smiled for him and for her she had found her destiny. John�s arms went around her waist and he pulled her closer. She leaned back and just let the feeling of being in his arms take her over. She turned around and caught his lips in a rough and passionate embrace. Sex with him before was good, she would never lie about that, but now it was even better.
