as per described in by: Ronald Tiessen Silvan DeLaurier married Mary Barthemlemy, they were from the Parish of Mauvier, diocese of Bourges, France.� They had a son, Francois in 1705, he became a soldier with the company of DeNoyan in Canada.� He married Susanne Colin on Feb. 26, 1748.� Susanne was born 15 April, 1714, at St. Francois, Isel Jesus, and was the daughter of Andrew Colin dit Laliberte and Jane Cadieu. The first child of Francois DeLaurier and Susanne Colin was a son, Francois, born 17 Dec. 1748 in Montreal.� By 1787 Francois (b. 1748) had moved into Detroit, and in November of that year married Mary Frances Metay.� She was born 15 Nov. 1768 and was the daughter of Joseph Metay and Catherine Dufour.� Francois died before 1806, and Mary Frances was buried on 4 March, 1830 at Assumption, Sandwich. The children of Francois DeLaurier and Mary Dufour were as follows: Two of Francois DeLaurier and Mary Metay settled in Mersea Township.� John Baptiste (b. 1791) was educated by his scholarly father in Detroit, after which it is reported that he fought under General Harrison in the War of 1812.� After receiving a pension from the American Government and a land grant in Maidstone Township he moved on tho Mersea Township in 1825.�� There he likely met his wife Julia Ann Hazel, daughter of Edward Hazel.� John Baptise and Julia lived on the tract of land which they purchased in Mersea until their death.� Both were interred in the Ruthven Cemetery.� (It is believed the land on which they lived was located at the corner of the 1st concession and Erie Street, on the Southeast Corner.� Later their son Gilbert also lived there.) The following is a list of their children: The second son to settle in Mersea Township was Hyacinthe (Charles), he was known as Charles.� He arrived in Mersea Township in 1834.� He first resided in Malden, and later in Kingsville.� He was a 'cooper' and practiced in the Kingsville area and later at Point Pelee.� Practically all the barrels at Point Pelee were made by him and used in the packing of fish.� Charles and Florence were interred in the family plot on the farm.� He was 72 years old when he died in 1868 or 1869.
