   A social issue in my community that I would like to change is people being homeless. I have been blessed with a nice house filled with nice things. Therefore, I hate to see that some people have nothing when I have so much. Homeless people did not choose that style of life. Many of them were hard-working people who lost their jobs due to companies moving out of the country. The high unemployment rate is responsible for many of the homeless people.
    The first thing I could do to help the homeless is to volunteer at a soup kitchen. Soup kitchens are a place where homeless people can go to get a good meal, something they are normally deprived of. Soup kitchens are a place where they can come in from the cold and leave with a full stomach.
    The second thing I could do to help the homeless is to donate clothing and blankets. Homeless people tend to have few possessions. The clothing and blankets would keep them warm when they are out on the streets. That could help them from getting sick so much.
    The final thing I could do to help the homeless is to volunteer for Habitat for Humanity. That way I could help ensure that one more family would be off the streets. They could finally have a roof over their heads. That would start to eliminate the problem altogether.
    Homeless people are treated like dirt. Successful people look down on them, but one day the tables could turn on them. Homeless people just need a little help. Our pity will not do them any good, only action will make a difference. If I could solve any social problem in my community, I would work on helping the homeless.
