DREAMS
Hold fast to your dreams
For if dreams die
Life is like a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.

Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is barren field
Covered with snow.

I have many things I want to accomplish throughout my life.  Although some are more relevant than others, they are all important.  I realize that I have to start now for the things I want in the future.  What I do now is just as important as what I do ten years from now.  I know I will have to work really hard to be able to achieve any of my goals, and I am willing to do all it takes . . .I think!
One goal I have for life that I feel is most important, is my dream of becoming a second grade teacher.  I have wanted to teach school ever since I started going to school.  I find it amazing when you take a child who knows nothing, and teach them the least little thing.  Ive had teachers who have taught me something, and theyve changed my life.  I want to have that feeling of helping someone, and possibly making a difference in their life.  I am quite specific on what grade I want to teach too.  I dont think I could handle any middle school or high school kids.  My opinion is that first graders still have trouble using the bathroom (I dont think I could handle that) and third graders are beginning to act to grown up (I know I couldnt handle that).
I know that to achieve this goal, I need to start right now!  I will need to maintain good grades throughout my high school years, and definitely graduate high school.     (Duh!)  I am also interested in being a teacher assistant or observer, during my high school years.  After completing high school, I will need to attend a four-year college.  At this time I am interested in attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, or possibly Presbyterian College and major in Elementary Education.  After my four years of college, hopefully I will find a job being a second grade teacher.  Right after I get my Teaching Degree, I want to begin working on my Masters Degree.  By putting forth the effort, and doing my best, I hope I will be able to accomplish these things without too much trouble.
I know Im no where near ready for some of the challenges Im about to face, but with experience and further teaching, I might be ready when the time comes.  The rest is left up to me (and a few good teachers).  I have faith in God and if things were meant to be, then theyll be.  One of my elementary teachers once told me, You can be whatever you want to be, so I want to be . . . .a second grade teacher.
