Henry David Thoreau was gifted in many areas. He was gifted in writing, he kept a journal of his days spend at Walden Pond. He also knew ways for him to simplify his own life, like going to Walden to see the beauty of nature and what it meant to him. He was aware of all his surroundings and their routine. He was gifted and smart on helping the slaves of the Underground Railroad, which caused him to spend a night in jail.
Thoreau�s weird side goes along with the gifted side of him. I found it weird for a man to isolate himself from his society. Writing a journal was also a weird thing for an adult male to do. For a man to just sit and admire nature was also weird to me. To spend a night in jail for just a personal belief was also odd to me.
Through Henry David Thoreau�s encounters and experience, I viewed him as an intelligent and odd person. Altogether his choices and decisions to simplify life were steps to his fame and success. |
