| Webster defines abortion as the spontaneous or induced termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in, or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus. In talking with various people, the issue of abortion is a very serious matter. Some of my family and friends stand firmly against abortion, whereas many others believe solely in the mothers choice. Although I rarely disrespect others opinions and beliefs, there is no opinion in this matter. Abortion is morally, spiritually, and physically wrong. God, the Creator of all things, is the only person with the authority to take someones life. No matter what others may say, abortion is wrong. When an embryo is conceived a new life has been given to the world. This life is given the chance to become a successful man or woman. When a doctor is asked to remove the baby from the womb before birth or adhere to the prescription of a life-killing formula, a life is being ended. In doing this, the mother and the doctor are preventing the birth of maybe a future United States peacekeeping President, doctor with the cure for AIDS or cancer, or a computer whiz with the newest invention in the world of technology. The child's opportunities to enjoy the earth's various beautifications are terminated. An innocent life does not deserve this brutal treatment. The world is filled with people who believe abortion is the mothers choice; however I disagree completely. Abortion is wrong, and no matter who believes that it is okay to take the life of a young faultless child, they should be the ones punished. How ironic to think that society punishes abusive parents while supporting a mother who chooses to kill her child because it is her right? God is the ultimate Judge of life and death. |
