Morals
Another school shooting That is what we hear time the television is turned on or when

we pick up the newspaper, it is the first thing we read.  We also hear about hate crimes

and random acts of violence across America and it is only getting worse.  This is

happening because our society is lacking dignity and respect, which is why morals should

be taught in school.  Would you like hearing your little brother talk about his friend bringing

a gun to school? It happens and it will continue to happen until something is done.

A lot of teen today have not been taught respect for themselves or others.  When you are

sitting in class trying to listen and someone will not shut their mouth, what runs through

your head?  Shut up! That is the first thing I think about, but these kids dont even realize

what it means to be respectful.  Not talking when someone else is, yes sir or no sir, and

not making bodily sounds in public have seemed to go out of style.  This is not a matter of

right and wrong, but a matter of having and showing respect, which everyone deserves.

Morals need to be taught and enforced at school, not only to teach respect but right from

wrong.  Most kids I know do unthinkable things, only because they have not been taught

at home that it is wrong.  I know you cant teach old dogs new tricks.  That is why

students from pre-school through eighth grade should be required t take an edifying class.

Would that be such a bad idea?  If you teach kids early they will know that respect and

having morals is good.  I am not implying that if someone is mean to you, you have to take

it.  I am simply saying handle it in a respectful way.

Having prayer in school and promoting a Godly lifestyle is surely a great idea.  The

morals that parents teach reflect on their religion, but not everyone is of the same religion.

My parents taught me thou shall not murder or steal, honor your father and mother, but do

Hindu parents have the same morals?  They believe in God exist in many forms,

reincarnation, and Karma.  Christianity should be the basis of moral teaching, because it is

the majority. If God be for us, who can be against us?  Romans 8:31

Children in kindergarten bringing guns to school and teens killing peers in unacceptable.

We as a society should take action and realize that this problem wont solve itself.  If kids

are taught to respect each other, obey the Ten Commandments, and talk about their

problems these horrid acts of violence will cease.  I feel confident that the teaching of

morals will lead to respect, dignity, higher self-esteem, and less violence.  If you teach us,

we will know and it is up to us to listen.
