Year Recap

The club baseball team saw it’s best year ever in 2003. We posted a 14 and 4 record. This was the best record club baseball has ever posted since joining the NCBA. In October of 2002 we selected players from between 60 and 70 who showed up for tryouts. We picked a pretty good squad. We ended up finishing second in the Dixie Conference of the NCBA.

Our biggest feat of the year was when we defeated the defending champion Clemson Tigers. Georgia Southern club baseball had never defeated Clemson. So this was a very big feat for the team. In the first game of the series we won the game in 10 innings (we only play seven). In the second game we won in 8 innings on a huge walk off homerun. In the third game we won by holding onto a one run lead in the seventh inning. So in the weekend we not only defeated Clemson for the first time but we swept them for the first time.

In 2004 we expect the team to get even better and make another run at the Dixie Conference Title.
