| CIVIL WAR DAYS AT THUNDER VALLEY STABLES In McKean, PA |
|||||||||||||||||
| All,
We attended the Beaver Center event over the weekend and was quite impressed by the event. This event was just the kind of event we of the Tri State are looking to add to the many other events we attend each year. Our hosts Captain Paul Baltzer and the 145th Pa along with Captain Doug Taylor and Taylor's/ Cushing's Battery, which are recent members of the Tri State, really know how to put on an reenactor friendly event. All the amenities were there in abundance, conveniently located just the way we like them. There were 6 quality sutlers in attendance along with 3 concession stands providing breakfast, lunch and full dinners at very reasonable prices. There was a period ball on Saturday night . As I say nothing was missing this is a premiere event that I'm sure our organization will want to support heavily in the future. Our Federal artillery section was in attendance adding to the total of 6 full sized guns and some of our Infantry which all did us really proud with their noticeable precision and bearing. There were 3 quality battles on good ground with a nice mix of open a wooded ground utilized plus a really interesting and challenging judged tactical held on Sunday morning. I was so impressed by the tactical that we are planning to include a similar one at the Perryopolis event in October. In conclusion The Beaver Center event is without a doubt the kind of event our Regional Battalion is looking to attend, it exceeded our expectations and looks to be a premier event that the Tri State needs to support in the future, this along with the upcoming Old Bedford Village event goes a long way to accomplishing our desire to create a great schedule of events that are reenactor friendly and an alternative to the brutal, sometimes unfulfilling mega events that we seem to suffer through each season. I would like to personally thank our gracious hosts for their hospitality and service. General Ed Kelley Brigade Commander Tri State Reenactors Association |

Well yes I do have a comment, hope to see an itinerary of planned events with the date and times that are planned for each on this page as soon as it's practicle to do so. I've put this site in my favorites and check on it about once per week. Just wanted to drop a line as express our sincere thanks for a great family time. My wife, our children and my parents have attended this reenactment for the last 4 years. The first couple of times in Conneautville and the last 2 years at the present location. Each time we've enjoyed it immensely and found the participants to be friendly, courteous and very informitive. Enjoy the mock battles, President Lincoln, church, the camps, etc. While no one in my immediate family does any reenacting we do so enjoy attending these civil war events and appreciate deeply all of you who give your time and energies to make these events so much fun and so rewarding. They are a wonderful family event and my family enjoys visiting each year. We generally attend on Sundays and go to church there. Thank you for such a wonderful outing. I'd like to see a more detailed schedule on this web site as soon as it's possible so that we can make our plans in a timely manner. We may wish to come both days but if that's not practicle then an itinerary of events that are planned would be of immense help. Once again thank you for your time in maintaining this web page and being part of such a wonderful and educational event. It's truely appreciated. Elmer L. Parker, Jr. |
