Rules:
.
General World
Squash Federation Rules apply to all games. The following shall also
apply to the Squash Ladder
1.0 Games
1.1 The
best of 3 games shall normally be played (first to 2 games wins).
Best of 5 can be played if
both players agree at any stage before, during or after the initial
'Best of 3'.
A player is entitled to
refuse to play more than 3 games.
1.2 Only the server scores points. The server, on
winning a rally, scores a point; the receiver, on winning a rally,
becomes the server.
1.3
A player who scores nine points wins the game, except that on the score reaching
eight-all for the first time, the receiver shall choose, before the
next service, to continue that game either to nine points or to
ten points.
1.4 If a
challenge cannot be completed due to the players being forced to leave
the court (typically after 40 minutes), the winner is determined
as the player who has won the most games.
If the number of games is even,
the winner is the player with the higher points score in the current
game.
If the points score is even, the
winner of the next point wins the challenge.
1.5 Final
scores, date and time of games should be submitted to [email protected]
as soon as possible to keep the table up-to-date for new challenges.
2.0
Challenges
2.1 A
player may challenge up to 3 positions above them.
2.2 Once a
challenge has been made, the challenger and the opponent have one week
to play the game before either of the players can accept/issue another
challenge.
2.3 If a
challenge cannot be played within one week for genuine reasons, the
challenge will be deemed void.
If no genuine reasons are
apparent, a walk-over will be awarded to the innocent party.
2.4 An
opponent may not reject a challenge. Rejecting a challenge constitutes
a forfeit (walk-over of 2-0 awarded to the challenger).
2.4 If a player
receives multiple challenges, the first challenge received must be
played first.
Subsequent challenges can only
take place if condition 2.1 above is still valid after the score of the
first challenge
is recorded.
2.5 If subsequent challenges are played before relevant
previous scores are registered, and condition 2.1 above has not been
met, the result will not be registered (important to submit date and
time with scores).
2.6 For injured players, a challenger may challenge up to 4
positions above them if an injured player is within 3 positions above
them.
3.0
Ball
3.1 Any
ball may be used once both players are in agreement.
3.2 If
players cannot agree on a ball, a single yellow dot ball shall be used.
