AutoRun Eagle Point Update Tools.

Thank you for downloading part of the Civil Cool Tools Suite.

These two command line console applets will allow you to install the Eagle Point Software automatically by updating only the client deployment located on the server.  The UpdateEP applet will look at the setup.exe that will be provided by you, and then determine if the Eagle Point Software needs to be updated. The EncryptEP application will encrypt your Administrator password to make sure that no prying eyes will determine what that password is.  Encryption provided by Microsoft will ensure your password is safe (Sorry, was I suppose to be serious here?)  Here is how the system works....

UpdateEP.ZIP

    Quick Steps

    1.    Place EncryptEP and UpdateEP in a location that all users are able to see (Including the administrator).  You can place them at \\server\Share\EP\Client or any other location that your standard users and administrators can see.  If using mapped drives, make sure that the path is identical to ensure an easy maintenance in login scripts.

    2.    Type "EncryptEP Encrypt MyDomain Administrator MyPassword \\Server\Share\EP\Client\Encrypt.dat".  This will create the encryption file that will be used by all users.  Name or extension of file is not dependant, you may call it dude.bob without any issues.

    3.    Include in the login script for users with Eagle Point

                \\server\Share\EP\Client\EncryptEP.exe  \\server\share\EP\client\setup.exe \\server\share\ep\client\log.txt \\server\share\ep\client\Encrypt.dat

EncryptEP

This small applet encrypts your domain, username and password so that information can be used to install Eagle Point, but not viewed by anyone. This app and the UpdateEP must reside in the same folder, however the encryption file and log file do not.  The log file is used to report any errors that may occur during the install/run of this and the UpdateEP applet.  This Applet has not been tested and does not appear to work for non-Windows Domain use as most users in non-Domain environments are rarely Limited users.  This applet is not required if your users are not locked from installing software.

    Parameters

These applets are pure command line applets.  They do not have any dialog interface as per design, script mode only.

Encrypt Information - You must type the following, Quote required for fields that have spaces.  You need to do this only as often as the password changes.    The password is the only field that is case sensitive.

EncryptEP encrypt MyDomain Administrator MyPassword Encrypt.dat

Decrypt Information and run setup as specified user.  Again, quotes are required for fields that have spaces.  These fields are not case-sensitive.

                    EncryptEP \\server\Share\EP\Client\Setup.exe \\server\share\EP\Log.txt \\server\share\ep\Encrypt.dat

UpdateEP

This small app monitors the Setup.exe that you specify and if either the Setup.exe changes (Patch Mode) or the Data2.cab changes (Client Install Mode), it will fire the Setup.exe for the update.  It stores information about the last install and reports its progress in the log file that you specify.  If users are Power Users or better, there is no need to use the EncryptEP applet as the user will have access to the Program Files folder, just use the UpdateEP folder.

The Log file stores data about the install that happened per machine.  The file must either be accessible by the user who executes the UpdateEP, or the user specified in the encryption file.

    Parameters

This applet is also a pure command line applet.  This does not have any dialog interface as per design, script mode only.

            UpdateEP \\server\share\EP\Client\Setup.exe \\Server\Share\EP\Log.txt
