22nd Kentucky Infantry and Asst. Webmaster for Kentucky in the Civil War
|
Mark Holbrook |
  |
Mark Holbrook is your host for information and history about the 22nd
Kentucky Infantry. Mark's interest in the Civil War has been a lifelong
part of his general interest in history and America's wars. That interest
became more focused six years ago as he became involved in Civil War
reenacting with the 49th Ohio Volunteer Infantry based in central Ohio. A
family reunion in 1997 resulted in Mark learning of an ancestor, John Abrams, who served in the 22nd
Kentucky. From there the inquiries revealed that Mark's g-g-g-grandfather,
John Abrams, served in Company C of the 22nd, and later Company C of the
Veteran 7th. Since then, Mark has been researching Private Abrams and the 22nd.
|
Mark lives in Columbus, Ohio, is a graduate of The Ohio State University
and currently works for WOSU radio. As a reenactor he has had the
opportunity to visit many of the sites at which the 22nd fought, including
the site of the 22nd's muster/training camp in Greenup County, Kentucky.
His current emphasis is on locating letters, diaries and newspaper accounts
of the experiences of the 22nd and 7th Kentucky Infantry regiments. |
