Military Service:

On August 20, 1861, Hugh White ADAMS enlisted as a Private in Company H, 3rd Kentucky Infantry.  He was mustered into service on September 22, 1861 at Camp Dick Robinson.  During his service he served as Private and Sergeant Major.  He was promoted Adjutant on November 1, 1862; and Major on February 16, 1863 in Young's Point, Louisiana.  He resigned as Major on August 5, 1863 in Vicksburg, Mississippi.

On September 15, 1911, while residing in Yonkers, Westchester County, New York, Hugh applied for a pension for his service in the United States during the Civil War.

NOTE:  Military Service is incomplete.

At the time of his enlistment, Hugh White ADAMS resided in Barbourville, Knox County, Kentucky.  After his discharge, he resided in the following locations:

Lexington, Fayette County, KY - Until July 1874
Peeksville, New York - Until 1876
Elizabeth, Union County, New Jersey - Until 1892
New York City, New York - Until April 1894
Yonkers, Westchester County, New York

At the time of his death, Hugh White ADAMS resided in Yonkers, Westchester County, New York where he died on August 6, 1916.
