The 7th Kentucky Infantry, which was originally designated the 3rd Kentucky Infantry and later changed to the 7th Kentucky Infantry in April 1863, was mustered in on September 22, 1861 at Camp Dick Robinson for a period of three years. During its term of service, the Regiment, due to the War Department's constant reorganization of military divisions and departments, can be found in the following military organizations:


Department of the Cumberland
Department of the Ohio
Army of the Tennessee
