     In consequence of domestic affliation requiring my presence at home and the urgent necessity for my attention to private affairs, which cannot be neglected without suffering too great a scarifice.  I desire to be relieved of the office of Captain 3rd Regiment Kentucky Infty. Vol. and here tender this my unconditional resignation of the same.

Being personally acquainted with the circumstances of which Capt. G. M. Adams alludes, I do not hesitate to approve and heartily recommend the acceptance of resignation.

I certify on honor that I am not indebted to the Government of the United States on any account whatever.  That I was last paid by Maj. I. N. Cook up to the 31st day of August 1862.  This 8 January 1863.
