ANUBIS
Anubis is the Ancient Egyptian god of mummification and guardian of the afterlife. Due to various translations of heiroglyphs, he is known by many names: Anubis, Anpu, Yinepu, Inepu. He was probably the God of the Dead before Osiris took over the position. Anubis is often considered jackal-headed, but there is some confusion over exactly which canine it is. It could be a jackal, a dog, or even an unknown animal.
Most commonly he is depicted in the scene of the weighing of the heart in tomb paintings and the book of the dead. It was he that laid the heart on the scales to see of the decesed was worthy of the afterlife. If the heart weighed equal with the feather of truth, the decesed would be led by Anubis through a number of gates into the afterlife. If the heart weighed more, the decesed would be fed to Ammut, a demon that sits near the scales,  and would cease to exist. He is also present in the Opening of the Mouth cermony, where the deceased is given the power to speak in the underworld.
He is often named as the son of Nephthys, but his father can be  Ra, Set, or Osiris depending on what text you are reading.

Anpu is my Father. He spoke and my Ba (soul) came into being. I have a deep love for him and find great comfort in his presence. Anpu feels like home to me; in his arms I find comfort and safety. He speaks most often in nudges and suggestion rather than command.
Home
I

I am from darkness, where light intervened
From the spark of life contained in death.
The world trembled in knowledge of my birth
Time stood still when I first drew breath
Child of fate and chance, an unknown
I held destiny in my hand
I learned from experience of pain and guilt
Joy and love, and came to understand

That I was never meant to be
And always meant to be
Opposites joined to create me
But there are no opposites, after all.

I am from the place where night holds day
The edge and the center, the all and the none
Where endless possibilities dance forever
And you wonder if you chose the right one
At last returning to where I began
Leaving behind all ignorance of youth
I stood and stared into the teeming void
And learned, at last, the Truth.

Anpu Speaks . . .

I know what you've been thinking,
I know where you are,
Where you want to go,
What you're thinking,
And what you're doing.
But most importantly I know
Who you are and,
What you need.

You want a place to call home.
Home is the name of my embrace.
You want a place to call sacred.
Sacred is My alter in your house.
You want a place to call right and true.
These are the names of My hands.
You want a place to call temple.
Temple is the name of your heart.

Writings on Anubis:
Poem: His Eyes
My Anubis Art:
Clay figure
And follow Him - He is here -
The Comforter, the Consoler,
Heart's Ease and Sorrow's End.
He is the Guide: the Gate is open.
He is the Guide: the way is clear.
He is the Guide: Death is no barrier -
For He is Lord of the Dance of Shadows -
King in the realm of Dreams.
