| In 2001, Dima went to Kenya because he is interested in learning about health care delivery in different cultures. Dima would like to get more clinical experience while helping people who have limited access to healthcare. In 2002, Dima spend time in the northern region of Brazil and Guyana treating and educating the people living in the areas where access to health care is very limited. Dimas long-term goal is to become an Emergency Room physician with specialization in international medicine. He would like to spend part of his time every year going to third-world countries and teaching medical students, residents, and local healthcare workers as well as providing medical relief in regions where there is a great need. Dima has become a board member of the City of Joy Project because he believes that sustained relief and education efforts have a more lasting and meaningful effect and he would like to help establish this project over the next couple of years. Dima's hobbies are soccer, tennis, running, cooking, hiking, camping, dancing Salsa, learning, traveling, chess, bioethics, etc. Dima's medical interests are infectious diseases, tropical medicine, emergency medicine, cardiology, and bioethics. In 2001 he went through the USAF officer-training course and became a 2nd. Lieutenant. After medical school Dima will do an internship year (transitional medicine or preliminary medicine) and then serve three years as a flight surgeon with the USAF. |
