Five years ago, if someone asked while Dennis was in high school, how he would spend his free time in college, he would have never imagined it would be at the University Health Center, volunteering and counseling on issues of sexual health and women�s health. Though it just seemed like yesterday to Dennis, he will always remember his years of service with the Clinical Volunteer Program as an unsurpassable opportunity for students to learn more about practicing medicine and providing healthcare, but most importantly, as a place to discover themselves, to take it upon themselves to make a difference. With the chance
to work with various people at different levels�staff, administration, volunteers, and patients�and the responsibility of relaying health information on issues not regularly and openly discussed, Dennis feels he would be selfish if he didn�t say it has shaped his college experience in a positive way.

In addition to the volunteer program, he explored other avenues of healthcare, besides what existed within the confines of a clinic.  With outreach events such as chairing Cornell University�s Annual Health Fair, he learned first-hand the intricacies of micro- and macro-managing a year-long project, from planning to the actual day of the fair.  Bring together off- and on-campus groups with an interest in preventative medicine and health promotion, this campus-wide fair focused on raising awareness in the Cornell�s community about various issues such as eating disorders, stress management, sexual health, and many other issues pertinent to today�s college student. These experiences not only solidified his decision to go to medical school but also helped him to grow from a once shy, quiet person to an out-spoken ambassador for healthy living. Although Dennis has never traveled outside the United States, his dedication and enthusiasm for this project makes him one of the outstanding members of this team.
