There were 21 fire calls with an average response of eleven members per call. There are currently 27 members on the department. Seven are certified Basic Fire fighters, eleven are certified Firefighter I, and two are certified Firefighter II. The department also has five members who have been certified Fire Instructor I. There were 50 medical calls in 2002, with an average response of just under eleven members per call. The Emergency Medical Service has 16 members. Four are First Responders, eight are EMT-Basic, two are EMT-Intermediate and two are EMT-Paramedic. The department will hold their Picnic April 27th. Funds raised will be used to replace the 1982 truck being used as a medical response vehicle. Also discussed was the 28E Agreement with the Rural Fire Board. It was decided the agreement should be changed for the 2004-2005 fiscal year to share the expenses 50-50. The Rural District is currently paying 60% of the expenses. The last time the agreement was reviewed was in 1989, before the fire stations was built. The clerk reported a used dirt bucket with teeth could be purchased for the new skid loader for $275.00. This would save wear on the new bucket. On motion by Lieb, second by Herman, council voted to purchase the used bucket from Star Equipment. Ayes: Carbaugh, Lieb, Herman, and Jacobsen. Nay: none. Motion carried. There being no further business, on motion by Jacobsen, second by Lieb, council voted to adjourn. Aye: Carbaugh, Lieb, Herman, and Jacobsen. Nay: none. Motion carried.
