| Council Ring designed by Alfred Caldwell in 1930s is southeast of lily pool in Lincoln Park. Caldwell and his mentor, landscape architect Jens Jensen (1860-1931) made many council rings in the early years of the 20th century. In his 80s, Caldwell hoped to build a council ring on his Wisconsin farm "where people would sit around and talk on summer evenings and the fire (in the center) would keep the mosquitoes away." There are camp fires at the council ring that Jensen built at Ellison Bay near Green Bay, Wisconsin. Dances have been performed also in that 100-foot ring. Picture below taken from west side of pond shows how many visitors can miss viewing Caldwell's Lincoln Park council ring -- seeing only another wall of rocks.
