Rules for Raids of Recovery of Unwilling Captives

The Unwilling Captive Rules (UCR) provide a realistic means to rescue a person who has been captured and is being held against their will. Such a person is doing their best to honor a capture they think is legitimate within the confines of role play, and shows much honor for the captors, themselves, and Gor. If all rescue attempts require prior consent from the captor, then a captive who honors such role play is stuck as a prisoner with no hope of rescue.

The intent of the UCR is to prevent captors from "locking down" homes, leaving captives in empty homes or otherwise preventing rescue attempts, which is not a realistic or honorale stance in Gor. The UCR in no way controls the captivity itself, only the means of rescue the captive. The UCR puts no limitations on the treatment of the captive or the length of captivity. The UCR does not limit other options for recovery of the captive. A captive (male or female, free or slave) may be recovered by ransom, trade, various diplomatic channels or by normal raiding. But in addition, the captive may opt for attempted rescue using the UCR, a modification of the standard raiding rules, as follows:

RAIDERS RULE 1. All rescuers must be members of the home of the captive. No hired help is allowed as in normal raids. If the captive has no home, the UCR is not an option, although a normal raid is still possible.

RAIDERS RULE 3 and DEFENDERS RULE 2. Overwhelming odds may be used by the rescuers. This includes zero defenders, although in the interest of good roleplay, the zero defender option should be a last resort when a captive is left in an empty home for an extended period.

RAIDER RULE 6 and DEFENDER RULE 4. The captive shall judge the validity of the rescue attempt. A person honorable enough to be an unwilling captive should have enough honor to make this determination. If the captive does not understand combat and raiding rules well enough to make a fair judgement, it is expected that the captive will seek advice from those more knowledgable, but in the end, it is the captive's decision. This is not to say that a captive can just decide to leave with no valid rescue attempt, just that the captive is allowed to judge the rescue attempt, if conducted under the constraints of the UCR.

No additional captures may be made by the raiders during the recovery of an unwilling captive. No property of the defender's home may be stolen, broken or in any other fashion damaged, except as necessary to free the captive.

All other raiding rules apply as normal. The rescuers still must show valid roleplay to approach the captor's location and obtain the freedom of the captive.

These rules apply to: - captives taken in any GRP room

- captives taken by any means (through raiding, open combat, force collaring, etc).

- captives taken in GRP rooms, regardless of whether the captive is from a home on the AR site or not.

- captives taken in GRP rooms, but later transported to rooms at other sites, regardless of the raiding rules at the other site.

- The UCR rule reflects for when captives are taken from GRP rooms and unwillingly transported to another location/homestone. The key word here is `Unwilling.`

- The UCR rule does not include being caught INSIDE Treve. If you did not want to be caught inside Treve - Then stay out of the territories. The UCR rule is only reflective to GRP rooms within the chat sites of Gor.

(GRP) equals and stands for ` general roleplay rooms ` for the public.
