A Mountain
A Mountain

Skidding down the rough mountainside , you sit down, rubbing your ankles. Looking around, you see you are sitting in a small, well hidden scoop . Getting up, wincing, you scramble over to the nearby stream. Sitting down stiffly, you splash cold water on your face, and drink some for yourself. Feeling refreshed, you sit back on your heels, thinking. What is this place? Nothing else in this valley is so cold and ...an cold! Just then, and icy blast knocks you over. "Stupid cold..and cold..and colder" you mutter darkly, scrambling back up. Peering around some of the larger rocks, you notice a lone willow-wood sign right on the edge of a cliff. Cursing your own curiousity, you carefully sidle over to it.
Sweating slightly, partly from fear, partly from the effort, you continue sidling to the cliff's edge. Finally you reach the sign and begin to read..........

"Welcome to the ruins of the old castle; We have reserved the old scoop for a Kier'dey'lor foal fromKier'dey'lor" grinning, you wonder about this 'Kier dey lor'..it sounds interesting. Peering around, you feel your heart jump to your throat. You nearly walked off the cliff! Gingerly, you look down. It's a looooong way down. And the jagged rocks at the bottom look none too friendly. Slowly, you back away. When you are safely away from that forboding cliff, you sit down on the smooth floor. A light clicking noise and a faintly musty odor draw your attention to the back of the room. A medium sized equine shape walks out gracefully, her head cocked with curiousity.
She giggles at you, and you notice her broad, flat hooves, and thick yet sleek fur. She must be made for this weather! You envy her that. Stepping into the faint arctic light, you see her colors aren't that unusual, brown and cream. She sighs, which sounds more like a soft whistle. "I am Aeri'joi'heleve, a Kier'dey'lor. I am of Keft'dre'valn x Sytr'gil'maurin..." She shifts her weight, unsure of what to say. Looking at the soft, inviting pallet, you lie down and drift into a deep dreamless sleep with the barely noticeable weight of her small head on your chest and her soft tail curled around your feet.
