Deeper, deeper into the forest you plunge, until it seems endless, and you have lost all hope, when suddenly, you burst forth from the trees, and onto a smooth plateu. You are standing right on the top of a waterfall! You know this only by the sound of crashing water, and the droplets hitting you, but you dare not look down. Backing slowly away, you reenter the woods, or so you thought. After a few minutes of walking, you realize this is not the same path you took before. A mysterious music drifts through the woods, and you unconciously follow it, walking in and out of tunnels that appear to be giant, hollow tree trunks. Each one, upon entrance, appears to lead only to swirling balckness pierced by small swirling clumps of white. Soon enough, you find yourself in a glade. In the center, a beam of light falls on a 5 foot tall upright log. In the darkness, you see only a small, blackish creature wearing a tribal mask and costume, dancing on the top of the log. The music here is very loud, and the odd being is dancing to it, or so it would seem. You take a step forward, and the small being dissapears, not runs, but dissapears into nowhere. When it is gone, the light that illuminates the dark grove, for it is night, goes out, and the music fades. You quickly forge ahead through the log tunnel you saw something move through, and continue your journey.
You come across a small intersection of 4 log tunnel entrances, and a stone doorway down. A rather large owl stands in a nearby tree. Upon seeing you, he flutters onto a large boulder, and to your surprise, begins to speak! "HOO HOO! Who goes there? Oh, it is only you. Well, here is some advice that may help you on your way. That tunnel over there leads to the Sacred Meadow. If you can get through there, you will be safe, most likely. But do not go down there.." He indicates the stone doorway. " - For it leads to the realm of the dead. Heed well this advice!" He hoots, and flies off into the night.
Gulping, you trudge through the tunnel he indicated. You enter the Sacred Meadow, of pale greens and dusted with wonderful flowers. The sound of shooting nearby makes you freeze. You step nervously through one of the entrances that make this place look like a maze, when another of those beings, but larger, dressed as a very tropical looking flower, shoots at you! You yelp and run off. As you wind your way through this maze, along with the need to not get hit, you find yourself, weary and bruised, in a long, white marble corridor. It appears grey, but the sections bathed in moonlight indicate it's true color, as well as....oh no! More of those awful creatures. So you run, for all your worth, up the long marble stairs, up and up and up, not thinking, just running from your newly fueled fear.
You open your eyes. You are in what looks like a palace courtyard, only in greek style, all in marble. The music...the music is very strong here! Looking around, your ears mercifully tune out the dull sounds of shots being fired. Dragging yourself up, you see a small elf, with curly green hair and clothing of similar shades, sitting on a pillar, playing on a pipe. She is the one playing the music, and beside her, beside her is an odd creature, large, of pink and purple, playing with a buttefly.
The girl puts down her pipes when she sees you, and the creature leaps to it's feet, following her. " I am Saria...and that is the Ocarnia, that led you to me. I am honored you came, knowing the dangers you had to face to find your way here. This is my companion, Chinimae. She is an Indowarion from Dusty's Domain. She comes with me when I go to the Lost Woods, and we are the best of friends." she says, her voice sweet slightly high pitched. You nod, still looking at the Indowarion, which in turn eyes you. Saria, for that is what the elf girl called herself, giggles. "Here. Try playing the Ocarnia with me," she suggests, pointing to the flute in your belt purse. "I'll show you what notes to play," she adds, and you nod, taking out the flute and raising it to your lips. She slowly places her fingers on the flute, and begins the Ocarnia. A flurry of green blossoms twirl around her and she plays, and the song seems to make all the creatures of the forest listen. "Now you try." she orders, and you imitate the hand positions. It as if all your worries have left your body. You are swirling in the green blossoms, and you feel, connected, to the forest. Stopping abruptly, you see you are at the forest entrance. You blink and wonder if it's all a dream, but know that it is not.
