You stratch and scrape your way through the dense jungle, muttering something about heat and staying home next time, as you pull through heavy, glossy leaves and thick, humid mist, when you suddenly stop dead in your tracks. Ahead is a huge temple, it's walls, floors, pillars and roof all covered in runes and mosiacs. The mist drifts through it, and a faint glow drifts through, barely penetrating the coat of thick fog. A low humming, a chord, drifts through along with the light. The thick foliage makes it hard to tell if it is night or simply too thick to let light through, but you plunge on, and into the temple.
Inside, the music is stronger, a low, strong hum from somewhere within the fog, and the swirling mists take on eerie shapes in the gathering darkness. Finally, you reach the center. The source of the humming is a large, ram horned reptile lying on a collapsed and moss encrusted pillar, lazily flicking his tail.
He looks up at you with great yellow eyes, catlike and intelligent. He snorts, looking at you. You are startled to here a voice in your mind. ~Hello Human. I am Ziven, an Imarui. Would you like to see what I guard?~ He asks, he grins, revealing many sharp teeth. You nod, gulping. With a great screech, he unfurls his huge wings and lifts off, hovering somewhere above in the mists of the forest.
A high, sweet laugh from the swirling mists really is an unnerving thing, you think, as another of these Imauri creatures walks out of the mists, her pink wings flapping ever so slightly.
" I am Mimei, it means Early Dawn in Japanese. I too, am an Imauri. Don't mind Ziven. He considers himself a ferocious guardian dragon of the woods....he has his good points though, " She says, smiling ever so slightly. " Ziven is my mate, as you may have guessed...our Keeper had never planned on adopting another Imauri, but when she found me she simply couldn't resist taking me home, apparently, " She says, with a throaty chuckle. You could swear when you look up into the dark trees you can see Ziven's glowing yellow eyes, and you swallow nervously, fidgeting. What did he mean by what he guards...did he mean this lovely creature? Eyeing her teeth and claws, you think privately she'd have not much trouble taking care of herself. As you leave the temple, two small draconic shapes zoom at you, their bright colors and whizzing wings making your head spin, and you lean against one of the pillars for support. They fly up to you, the one in front a beautiful green, cocks it's head at you.
" I am Aoshingou, or Green Light in japanese. I am a Necco, as you are wondering, correct?" She asks, her voice an odd but not unpleasant sound. You just stare, dumbfounded. She makes a trilling noise deep in her throat, that you assume must be her version of laughter. Suddenly, the second shape, similar in shape to the female, pushes forward, this one a bright golden shade.
It leans forward, it's dark eyes gleaming with curiosity. " I am Sakin, or Gold Dust in japanese. I too, am a Necco, from the same clutch as Aoshingou, as a matter of fact. We are from Arborwin Adoptions. I however, am a male. Do not mind my sister, she is foolish." He says dryly, and his sister pecks him playfully on the tail. You grin, and craning your neck to see around the playful pair, you notice two nests placed in the gnarled tree just to the left of the exit. In one of the nests, a small beanie shape rests.
The female stops, looking at the beanie. " That is a carmor beanie. It belonged to me when I was a child. It too comes from Arborwin Adoptions, a gift from Arborwin." She says, then darts off, her brother in close pursuit.
You think of the eyes, and suddenly feel very sleepy....
