You trudge wearily down the rough hewn trail, listening to the soft sounds of the wind and birds, and the louder crunch of your sneakers on the underbrush. You stop for a moment, looking down over the edge of the trail. It feels like you have been walking for days, and yet you are still so far from the ground. You turn your head to look back up the trail, the trail that leads -eventually- to the top of this mountain. Just hours ago you were up there, meeting all the strange and wonderful creatures that live scattered around this mountain. Well, really, this whole realm is full of creatures, scattered everywhere, you muse to yourself. Shrugging, you continue walking down the trail once more.
After awhile, you come upon a thicket. A solid thicket. It's seemingly unpenetrable, and not just because of the thick moss and other foliage adorning the gnarled limbs of the various trees supporting this natural fortress. You reach out a tentative hand, and to your complete amazement, the two largest branches pull away from each other, creating a makeshift doorway! You blink in amazement, ducking your head instinctively as you step over the threshhold and into another world....
The moment you stepped through that door, the air before you shimmered a medley of metallic colors, the foremost a point of silver light in it's very core. Before you could realize what was happening, you were sucked through the wierd barrier, the feeling something between cool water and gelatin on your skin. You are thrown out with a violent push, barely landing on your feet. You turn half-around, looking at the continually spinning light portal. Only from this side, you can see through it back to the glade where you stood just moments ago. You blink rapidly, completely stunned by this strange magic. You again look ahead of you at the well groomed meadow, the lush and plentiful grass and the abundant flowers bathed in soft golden sunlight. You look up at the bright blue sky, noting that it is free of clouds. Taking a step forward, you look more closely at your surroundings. Behind you is the forest, deep and forboding. Ahead of you is a huge open meadow, broken only by a wide, turqouise watered stream, and beyond that, more meadow stretching out to the mountains. The stream seems to curve around the entire length of the meadow, the base starting somewhere in the dark woods behind you. Near where the babbling river meets the trees is a small shape, nearly invisible in the shadows. With barely a second thought, you take off at towards the shape at a run.
As you quickly eliminate the distance between you and the creature, you begin to notice it's features. For the most part it looks equine, with just a hint of canine thrown in. It's coat is a beautiful black swirled with silver, and it's wings are pure silver, gleaming despite the fact that whatever it is, is standing in the shade. By this time, you have reached the creature, but your quite out of breath from your run, and apparently the creature can see this. " I am Syl'ana, daughter of Ori'ana and Syl'fir. I am a Calei, an equine canine mix, and a distant relative to the Equii. My kind rarely wears jewelry of any kind, have wings, or have a dark-coloured body. I am the second Calei of an Order to date; the first was my father. I have a dark coloured body, silver wings, a braid, mane accessories, and jewelry. My order is Midnight's Treasure. So, as you can see, I am quite unique."
Being the articulate conversational genius that you are, you blink. She simply rolls her eyes. " Well obviously you are a half wit, or perhaps deaf. In either case, I am afraid I have a previous engagement, so I must be leaving. Good day to you," She says curtly, and dashes off into the woods, leaving you staring after her in wonder, sputtering and still panting.
