The Yamaha TDM850

The TDM (Twin Dual Motorcycle) was launched worldwide in 1991 and received critical acclaim by the motorcycle press.

Neither a sports road bike nor an off road trail machine, the TDM was hugely popular in mainland Europe but didn't really catch on in the UK. It's "bug eyed" styling and "neither one thing or another" stance didn't go down too well in puritanical Blighty!

1996 saw an update with a facelift and a heavily modified engine with an unusual crankshaft configuration to give the parallel twin a distinctive "V" twin firing pulse and exhaust note, albeit muted by the hideous and heavy exhaust system.

Minor evolutionary changes were made throughout it's life until replaced by the TDM 900 in 2002
