Caroline stared for a minute. Her mouth curved at one end. She cleared her throat. She tried to keep her mouth from opening. Then she broke out in gales of laughter.
"What are you laughing at?" Richard said slightly hurt by the surprising reaction.
"Oh Richard, that is the funniest thing I ever heard!" He reached over and hugged him. "You know just what to say." She stood and sighed. "I gotta powder my nose. Thanks again!"
"But Caroline, I really do love you." Richard said rising and taking her arm.
She placed her hand on his cheek."You're so sweet to me. I'll be right back."
Caroline left a baffled Richard and an even more confused Remo to stare after her.
"It could have been worse Senor Ricardo." Remo said.
"How is that possible?" Richard asked.
"She could have said I hate your guts."
Richard sighed and sat back in his seat, defeated.
