Feel free to skip this if much of it sounds familiar or painfully obvious, which it probably will.
This is a writing exercise which began as an attempt on my part to redo a translation of a story of
Kafka, but has been growing into its own story. It is written from what one might call a "moving multiple first person
perspective" - with no pretense of omniscence or objectivity in the narrative, or assumption that the narrator is
reasonable or always even well informed. In this story, we listen in on the inner thoughts of the characters, who
don't know that we're listening - these aren't monologues - and the reader is left to construct his own narrative out
of what he hears. This time, there will be little mystery, at least not for the first few dozen pages, but I offer
no promises that such will always be the case.
The context is moving, because as the characters relate what has happened, it has just happened. They are not looking
back, once all is done and they understand, or think they do. What "was" - what is in the past, is changing for each
character as we go through the story.
Yes, some of these sections - I hesitate to seriously call anything so brief as these a "chapter" - have the same
"names" as some of the others. Each is named after the character from whose point of view the story is being told, in
that chapter. We're going to be doing a lot of bouncing around. At present, I have a few hundred pages of hand written
material to transcribe by palsy slowed hunt and peck, so please be patient. I am presently in the middle of writing the
first draft of this story. Replacement of passages and insertion of chapters should be expected in
the second draft, as I presume to replace Kafka's voice with my own. That, and make a few characters as familiar
as they ought to have been, at several points in the first draft, and weren't.

Note regarding chapter numbering:
My notes were a little out of order, so I accidentally neglected to upload a chapter. I've since remedied that -
this would have the current chapter six - but other chapters following it had to be renumbered as a result.
Old Chapter 06 .. -> .. Chapter 07
Old Chapter 07 .. -> .. Chapter 08
Old Chapter 08 .. -> .. Chapter 09
Old Chapter 09 .. -> .. Chapter 10
