You all know more or less how it goes, back in 1621 the Pilgrims had tough times up against them and they beat the odds. This came from sheer will and assistance with the neighboring Indians, whom they held peace with long enough to have a Thanksgiving feast with under the suggestion of the Governor, William Bradford. Over the years, presidents would accept a Thanksgiving day to be celebrated and as mentioned eariler Abraham Lincoln made it a national holiday and thus far every fourth Thursday in November the current President will give a Thanksgiving Day Proclamation and that's the basic history of the United States holiday!
