| After the events of the anime Cowboy Bebop unfolded came a manga to America, titled Cowboy Bebop: Shooting Star. This spinoff of the series shows a different outlook on the Bebop that was, and in my mind, is still a hit. Check out my review and draw your own conclusions of this manga! | ||||||||||
| Publisher: Tokyopop Series Length: Only two stinkin' volumes! (But ten shoots in all) Publisher Info: Stuart Levy Author: Cain Kuga Reads: Left to Right Age Group: I'd say 16 and up had this not been a contemporary society, but in the 21st century 13 and up will do. Synopsis: Introducing the duo Spike, the @55 kickin' bounty hunter, and Jet, Spike's not as computer illiterate partner who are as vibrant as ever as they track down bounty heads, meet "comrades" Edward the hacker youth, Ein the data pooch, and Faye the femme fatale. As Spike endevors on multiple quests to get a decent bite to eat and declare his many hated things, he must also survive the trails ahead. I don't want to give any plot away, it does reveal itself in a continious manner without a dull moment. Artwork: The artwork here is manga centric at times, with all the cliche wavy arms, super big faces, and poofy eyes! It was an enjoyable difference from the anime and recieves zero complaint from me. Downsides: One major downside is the fact the series got cancelled midway and is two books long. Also...I just didn't like the villian in particular (Vicious was cooler) and aside from that I found no other problems. Summary: Okay now let's see. This being the first manga I ever purchased (on account I had a gift card I thought I'd try one out) I was skeptical right off, but soon found to love it. Also the variation of the Bebop world was a strange experience being one who owns the series and movie, don't you know? I also don't wish to summarize the series since, after all, it's quite short and would give it all away right off. For anybody with a spare twenty I would highly recommend buying this two volume manga! P.S. This is my personal review, which I first posted as Fei17 at this site.
