Among them were minute borers, scrapers and crescent-shaped knives whose delicately honed edges could only be perceived with the aid of a magnifying glass.
Who made then and how were they used? Baffled archaeologists are still no nearer to learning the truth. Further discoveries of these tiny tools in such faraway places as India, Australia and Egypt only compound the mystery.

Just before the turn of the century, hundreds of flint tools were unearthed from the moorland peat of east Lancashire�s Pennine Hills. These ancient artifacts were so small that they appeared to have been fashioned by a race of miniature people. None of the tools was more than half an inch long and some were smaller than a quarter of an inch.
