| THE DANCING GOAT Raymond Barsuhn of Elgin, Illinois, knew hed discovered the perfect advertising gimmick for his dancing academy when he returned home one lunchtime to find his pet goat, Sonny, dancing on his hind legs in the kitchen, having eaten a bag of coffee beans. Hollywood choreographer Hermes Pan saw the publicity picture of Raymond dancing with Sonny and resolved to offer the goat a part in Gene Kelly film he was working on, Anchors Aweigh. On the set, however, Sonys wild enthusiasm fuelled by a surfeit of coffee beans proved difficult to direct. The goat skidded uncontrollable on the polished floor, his movements bearing scant relation to the dance step so lovingly devised by Pan, and the goat routine was abandoned. Still, the Barsuhn Academy flourished now that Raymond could advertise it as having launched the career of one of Gene Kellys dancing partners. |
