Military Issue: Them's Fightin' Words
| Well, another of my good friends has chosen to join the military, even though he actually jined the Army Reserves. He's been shipped out to Iraq as of 12-27-2004. A bunch of friends had dinner with him before he left, and I chose to make him a mixcd to listen to and remind him of home (because that's what I do). So Aditi and I chose songs that I thought would make him laugh. Of course, there are a few obvious ones: Bombs over Bagdad, Soldier, We Will Rock You, Blitzkrieg... It's really cool in that for the "track error, I started playing the most obvious going away song there is, Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here, then sampled a record scratching, as if I said oh no, I can't actually do this to him. Other samples include Terminator, when he's in the gun store: note that each time Coverdale says, "I've made up my mind," I've sampled a different gun he asked for. Right before Fragma, I sampled T2, "come with me if you want to live." And the last thing on the cd is a sample from Pulp Fiction. | ||||
