My name is Debbie Thurston and I am a senior in the accelerated Computer Information Systems program at DeVry University. I will be graduating at the end of the Fall '02 trimester. I will have completed all required courses, which includes a multitude of programming classes. They are as follows: CIS160 Visual Basic; CIS222 Prog with C; CIS270 OOPI; CIS275 OOPII (currently enrolled) and CIS319 Cobol and CIS330 Advanced Cobol.
My true passion is following collegiate basketball and football. My favorite college team is the Ohio State Buckeyes. I also love the Dallas Cowboys. I used to see between five and six pro games a year. Growing up, I always involved myself in some type of sport, whether it be playing dodge ball, tag or tackle football with the neigborhood boys or joining a summer league softball team. I played basketball and softball in high school and my skills were strong enough to earn me a scholarship to a small school. I am an extremely competitive person and I hate to lose at anything. While I am not playing sports or going to school, I love to travel, especially to gambling establishments. I have been to Las Vegas, Tunica, Mississippi, riverboats in Indiana and Atlantic City. I enjoy playing Texas Holdem, which is a two card poker game and blackjack.
I plan on pursuing a career in Project Management with a software company which is a far cry from what I am doing now. However, I realize that I will probably have to gain some experience by taking an entry-level programming position.
