My name is Denise L. Darling and I am a pursuing a Computer Information Systems degree from DeVry University in Columbus, Ohio. Including the classes that I am currently enrolled in, by the end of the Fall '02 trimester, I will have completed 148 credit hours towards my Bachelor of Science degree. While I have taken classes in many disciplines, here is the list of the programming classes I have completed: CIS160 Visual Basic; CIS222 Prog with C; CIS270 OOPI; CIS275 OOPII (currently enrolled) and CIS319 Cobol.
Although, personally I have never considered myself to be 'competitive' with others, I do compete with myself; always pushing to do better and accomplish more. As an equestrian that competed on the national level, I won two Appaloosa World Championships in 1994. Of course, to be successful at that level of competition, I had to drastically alter my psychological game. The mental attitude that I had in high school, as captain of the volleyball team where my motto was "aim to maim" would never had lead to any World Championships. Working full-time and going to school full-time leaves me no time to pursue either of these things (for right now). Fortunately, there is always time for music, which fills my spirit.
At this time, I plan to guide my career towards network security. This side of the IT world fascinates me. It's not just the technology and skills that excite me; I am also intrigue with the personalities that this sect seems to attract. Besides, I love the idea of being a 'white hatter'.
