Adult Education classes at the Adult Learning Center are FREE and open to those ages 16 and up who are not currently enrolled in school. A three-hour registration and orientation session for new students is conducted every Friday at 8:00 a.m. Participants must be scheduled for this session ahead of time by calling or visiting the ALC.
The ALC is open full-time during the day. Each adult learner is scheduled to attend the ALC for a minimum of 12 hours a week for either morning or afternoon sessions. A schedule is created for each adult learner at the time of registration.
Adult students are expected:
--to commit themselves to attend class on a regular schedule
--to abide by the attendance and code of conduct expectations
--to study independently using an individualized study plan
--to learn at their own pace and ask for help when they need it
--to complete the course of study and be reassessed before leaving the program
--to take the GED test upon a teacher's recommendation
The Adult Learning Center offers FREE on-site access to books, videos, comptuer-aided instruction, and personal teacher instruction to help improve academic skills and prepare GED candidates for the tests. The only cost to the learner is the time and effort it takes to come to our center to use these resources. We are here to serve those who are seriously committed to reaching their educational goals. |
